And when you realize it's happening, it will be too late for you.

If it happens it happens, sod all about it I can do.
So I guess I'll just continue living my life the best I can without worrying about Armageddon or whatever.

That the point MANY MANY fail to grasp. Live your life as best as you can and treat others as you would treat yourself. In short love everyone like yourself, and ask For forgiveness for your sins, and know God is your God and jesus is his son who died for your sins so you would not have a bad afterlife.

Yes but the point I'm making, which you missed, is very clear - until technology advanced to where it is now, there was always the chance to fight back against the abuse of humanity by its leaders. Now, there will be no way to fight back, when the control system trap is finally sprung in its most severe incarnation, there will be no coming back from that, the writing is on the wall, it's just like Orwell said -"a boot, stamping on a human face, forever."

Previously we could fight back. No more.

You're engaging in whataboutism. Religion is no longer what it was. But technology can be used as a diabolical tool of oppression, from which there will be no esccape once the control system is fully operational - and if you're pretending you can't see that, there's nothing anyone can say to prepare you for what's ahead. Your cynicism based on your atheism is laughable really, because you're trying to force your opinion to fit the facts, when it plainly does not. Besides which, atheism is a far worse tyrant than religion ever was. See Stalin, Mao & Pol Pot for starters.

Agreed - but the technology is what will trap us in a future that can never be escaped. That's the key difference now, and the reason why it absolutely is true that we're at greater risk than ever before.

I agree that there certainly does seem to be a lot that can be said for the perspective the Revelation was in some measure a treatise against Rome, but I've come to think that it's more than that, it's an expression of truth versus tyranny - any age, any tyranny, will tend to fit with Revelation, because human nature is always the same. My argument wasn't really rooted in Revelation though as I don't understand it well enough to argue regarding the possibility thereof. I'm more thinking in terms of what will destroy human freedom in our current time, and will God permit it to stand - I think He will not permit the end of human freedom forever, so we truly are living in the last days of the present & near-future world order. It will all be disrupted massively by God's plan, and we will see wonders in the Earth & Heavens.

As I keep coming back to, it is the fact that we now live in a technological age where social dynamics can be utterly constrained by the powers that be, which expresses to me that in as much as Revelation is speaking about the 'End of Days' then we absolutely are facing that time right now, and it's coming on fast & strong.

Okay, I get where you are going with this, and I kind of agree on some things. But what is the revelation? And do I need to go scream and shake a chain-link fence now?

The one-world thing is a byproduct of modern capitalism. Globalism is ALREADY past the point of no return. I just had to talk to India about my American bought Japanese engineered TV manufactured in Mexico.

So I'm fairly certain I am living in every bit of that New World Order... that wants you to create accounts, and attach them to yourself, and remove all your anonymity, and then have to talk to people you can't understand about it, if you don't want to do it the first way.

It's already a massive interconnected web of special interest, pandering, and lobbying. And meritocracy and oligarchy isn't going anywhere, so long as there is free exchange of commerce and ideas, and wallets to create accounts to market to.

But about that.

The reigning in of the internet is touchy thing. It's part of the globalist integration for me.

If we are going to draw an analog for the beast it was born in August 1991. And this beast insists on you merge your corporeal existence within this, well call it a "skynet" (Cloud), to exist cataloged forever, and give yourself over to loss of privacy.

But at least I am, for the most part, free to opt out a lot of that. And work around it. And complain in several countries without dying. A few still allow hatespeech even.

I get what your going at. And if true, if the beast was born in 1991, the apocalypse should start with a coronal mass ejection that mocks the Carrington Event. Take people off the grid first. To really underscore the false prophet of technology.

Of course it might happen anyway, and just appear like a revelation.

And so long to my precious internet prattling in any case.

No, I didn't miss the point, I just think its pointless worrying about it.....and to a certain extent I don't think we are entirely powerless.

I have tried my best to live my life by my own values and personal moral code.
I hope I have raised my daughter and grandson to do the same.
If we can also influence other people to do the same in some slight way then great - and if enough of us do the same we can still have some bearing on how our leaders act in some small way.

Yes, technology has advanced and we could literally eliminate most life forms here on earth in more or less an instant.....but they haven't.

I am not a fatalist nor do I have your faith to fall back on.
I simply try my best to live my life the best I can and deal with the realities of situations when they arise.

In fact, yes it is as religion cannot change or evolve or upgrade itself. Its entire premise is based on that.

Whereas science and tech DO change and evolve.

But technology can be used as a diabolical tool of oppression

And so can religion. Again, blame the people, not the conduit.

...there will be no esccape once the control system is fully operational - and if you're pretending you can't see that, there's nothing anyone can say to prepare you for what's ahead.

Again, you can say the same thing using religion as your subject. Humans will always try to control other humans, using whatever means they can, be it archaic religions or new technology. You're acting like this is something 'new' and news worthy.

Your cynicism based on your atheism is laughable really, because you're trying to force your opinion to fit the facts

And I could argue the same point - you're overreacting and sensationalising technology into a malevolent force out to kill us all - it isn't. **People** might be, and might use it to do bad things. But people use religion to do bad things, or cars to do bad things, or animals, or a fork.

Besides which, atheism is a far worse tyrant than religion ever was. See Stalin, Mao & Pol Pot for starters.

See the Crusades, the Thiry Years War, Northern Ireland, Israel vs Palestine, inner Islam factions, Islam vs Christianity in Africa, The Rohingya, Armenia-Azerbaijan, etc - I could go on, but that isn't the point.

My point is, you are wrong. Technology isn't evil. The people who use it could be. But let's be honest - what will allow humanity to excel and thrive going foreward? Science and Technology, not religion.

Clean, unlimited energy, better medicines and medical technology, lunar and Mars colonisation - will all come from technology. Not from your draconian texts of oppression and superstition.

Rant all you want about the evils of technology - but how are you posting your response right now? How are you getting to work? Where do your clothes come from? The energy in your home? The medical facilities you rely on?

**NONE** of it comes from religion and ALL of it comes from science and technology.

Technological development ensures that the worst, most egregious crimes against humanity can be instantiated on an enduring, even eternal basis - the death, slavery & abuse will never end, once they are finished springing their trap to ensnare us all.

Huh.. reads the same.

I'd hardly say technology is is the reason. Technology is agnostic of its purpose - blame the people, not the science.

This would be on par with blaming guns for murdering people.

People have been predicting the end of the world since, well, more or less the dawn of civilization.

They've been predicting Tribulation and The Second Coming since the moment they took Jesus down from the cross.

Still here.
Still waiting.

I just think that people today have no clue as to how awful life was even 100 years ago, now go back 1000 or 2000 etc. Life was a daily event for survival... has anyone here needed to survive even one day in their life...

We live an easy life and it is just too much for us to handle... The fact that the OP can spend so much time on their post(s) means they have a lot of free time and that is a luxury humans have only seen in recent times except for a handful at the top.

The biggest change is not that the world has really changed but that we see it all now 24/7. WWII was a once-a-month propaganda reel at your local theater. It wasn't until many years later people would understand the true horrors of that war.

My case in point... has anyone here heard of the Myanmar war, has anyone posted on it? We are talking about 50,000+ people killed in the last couple of years. Where is all the OMG statement as we see with Israel? That is about as basic and brutal as if it was back in the 14th century. Not much has changed...

Correct. Just like blaming a knife or a baseball bat. Or a log. It's what people do with it - and sure, maybe not all people do good things. But technology is the only thing that will advance humanity. Not religion.

Very true indeed.

Quality of life expectations have grown, as they should have done. I'm the first to accept that quality of life is not as great as it should be for many but generally speaking it is better today than it was for even my Grandparents.

We have a tendency to dwell on what we haven't got, especially in this materialistic age, and not enough time on appreciating that which we do have.

The ever present nature of doom porn and the constant reminders of the worst sides of human nature help foster the impression of imminent Armageddon.
When allied to a fundamentalist interpretation of some religions it must lead to a miserably, pessimistic outlook on life.
That's not to say I'm ignorant of world events and current affairs, just that I don't let it negatively affect my day to day life.

Personally I like to concentrate on the here and now whilst trying to learn from the past. That enables me to try to make a better future for my family and enjoy what little time I may have left.

Why I believe we are facing Apocalypse.

The thing is people of the religious sorts have been claiming the same to something similar throughout recorded history.

The end is always nigh, and the sky is just about to fall, and yet..............

Are you sure you're not wanting the end days to materialize down to it somehow quantifying or justifying your religious sensibilities?
