Starmer has simply called for a humanitarian pause in the fighting to allow aid in.

He opposes a permanent cease fire because it will not resolve the problem of Hamas.

Anti Semitic hate crimes here are up by around 1300 %.

Yes, that's why his party is in a turmoil.

Imagine in what state of mind someone is when they don't support a permanent ceasefire when thousands of innocent civilians have been killed and war crimes have been committed.

Worth repeating.

The title of this thread says they were suspended for 'cease fire' and 'peace' comments. But going to a pro-Palestinian rally and yelling the battle cry 'between the river and the sea' are not 'cease fire' nor are they 'peaceful'. Those are words used by Palestinians and Hamas calling for the violent overthrow and destruction of Israel. Nothing 'peaceful' and 'ceasefire' about them.

www.bbc.com...

Andy McDonald has been suspended as a Labour MP, after the party said he had made "deeply offensive" comments relating to the Israel-Gaza war

The MP for Middlesbrough used the phrase "between the river and the sea" in a speech at a pro-Palestinian rally.

We won't rest until we have justice, until all people, Israelis and Palestinians, between the river and the same can live in peaceful liberty

That's what he said and there is nothing wrong with it.

The other guy (conservative MP) argued for ceasefire and was sacked.

Again, there is nothing wrong with arguing for ceasefire.

Nobody can dictate to elected members what they can or cannot say. The same is true when it comes to citizens.

Imagine the state of mind of someone who thinks that a permanent cease fire might actually be permanent or that Hamas might miraculously stick to it and give up it's sworn aims of genocide and annihilating Israel off the map?

Like, bonkers? No?

"Nobody can dictate to elected members what they can or cannot say."

Think you'll find that their party can.

Citizens?

Apples and oranges.

Your labour party is in a turmoil because of their 'unequivocal' support...

Sure, they can say whatever they want. And if what they say goes against what the party stands for, then they are kicked out of the party. They can say whatever they want though ... sure. CONSEQUENCES EXIST. That's the whole point of a party platform and sticking to it. Don't want to ... then you are out. Plain and simple.

It seems not. They didn't obey.
Many more councillors (labour) have resigned and others are about to.

You talk like this about a large part of your compatriots who are in favour of ceasefire and peace.

Good. The fewer the better.

The labour MP has been suspended he isn't sacked. And he has the right to call out whet he thinks is wrong just like many other around the world i.e the war crimes committed by Israel. He has explained himself in his speech and other speeches he gave.

Do you have any idea how many MILLIONS of us there are over here?

Well, I can only speak for those I actually know.

Can you?

And the party has a right to kick out those who don't follow the party line.

Any evidence that the majority of my "compatriots" are so in favour?

There are quite a few millions of us, you know?

Good we could do with rooting out anti semites and Hamas apologists.

I am sure a good number of the 67 millions are against the war.

You see what happens when you give unequivocal support?

Even Biden realised that nothing much can be achieved by Israel and spoke about a 2 state solution.

Is Hamas in favour of "peace"?

That's the important question.

The answer, by the way, is a resounding "No".

Obviously?

No?
