Not the porn thing.

I’d say it has to do with the only thing a government really fears: the truth and those who tell it.

Then it could be concerning. If the world was in danger because of an asteroid that came from behind the sun let’s say,
They would never tell us. And I’m not so sure I’d want to know. Unless of course it’s aliens lol.

Are there any other observatories on the planet that are pointing the same way and can see near enough what this one can see?

And the 2 observatories mentioned on page 1 that were shut down after this one and can be plotted in a straight line from this one: what were they pointed at and what can they see? This one:

…What's also weird is in the same few hours 2 or more observatories went down too. One in Hawaii and one in Pennsylvania I think. If you plot all three on a map it's a straight line.

Same here though this was discussed so heavily though there was no resolution.

Considering all the unknowns

Apologies, I posted whilst half asleep. You are right the site was reopened a few days later, though the real reason the site was shut down is a mystery.

If it was a cover for equipment to be removed, it seems a bit over the top. It would be more discreet to moved the gear whilst normal operations are going on it would have generated less questions.

By handling it the way it was created a stir.

This place is on the top of the Sacramento Mountains, it is east of the WSMR test facility, north of fort bliss, south of where the Roswell crash site is, and south east of where the first nuke Trinity test site is located. And it’s basically next door to Holloman Chairforce base.

NM is a hot spot for outer space information gathering. The VLA is also in NM not far from the Socorro ufo sighting incident.

Ohh, and Los Alamos.

No one ever accused the government of being competent.

I believe it has reopened.

I wrote a thread when this all happened.

Whatever happened up there.

It had nothing to do with child porn.

As Zaphod has stated.

It's a classic case of our government having more money, power, and toys than brains.

Take a simple equipment removal, which likely could have been performed under full view of everyone, (people tend to not pay attention, or really care much about construction type activities)
And turn it into a complete fiasco involving nation wide media attention requiring a hastily constructed cover story that even under light scrutiny falls apart quickly.

I wonder if anyone has filed anything at this point under the freedom of information act pertaining to it yet, and if that would turn anything up

I think it was quite obvious that something in Earth Orbit happened to transit the Sun at that time. The other 2 observatories and perhaps some other places nearby that could have been imaging the Sun were shut down immediately as they were in the critical area where "whatever it was" was could be imaged, possibly on some kind of ecliptic trajectory since the sites were in a straight line.

The prime objective after it was discovered seemed to be securing any communications in and out of those facilities and this was the reason they used a porn laptop scheme allowing them to confiscate anything attached to the network that could record an image from the equipment and transmit or receive it. They also made everyone leave the facility and also secured the post office, phone systems and network so no text or images could leave there as well.

What ever it was had to be in Earth orbit, thus limiting the observable area between the Sun and Earth where "what ever it was" transit could be noticed. This thing could not be seen without eclipsing the Sun as it could never be seen in the daytime, and what was imaged was a backlit shadow.

One of the big advantages that that particular observatory had was an extremely accurate tracking capability because it used gallons of liquid mercury as a bearing. The whole mount of the scope floated on it. It's optical system and mirrors were also some of the best available. Obviously it had the best imaging of the "THING" because of the extremely accurate tracking and optics.

Anyway, that is my take on why this occurred the way it did. The big question is what was it? ... and we will probably never find that out.

I got a chance to visit the observatory a few years before all this happened. Oddly enough I was with Lyn Buchanan, one of the members of the original of Remote viewing unit. It really is just a solar observatory, no secret labs. And they really cannot point the telescope around to anything other than the sky. My memory is a little fuzzy but I think I recall a table, like a Camera Obscura, where you could see an image of the sun live.

Agreed, I worked in government to move a desk requires a lot of paperwork. An occupational health assessment. Takes a week.

Employ a contractor to move it.

A couple of people could move it in 5 minutes.

That’s a great explanation. It’s probably as straight forward as that.

Though secrets are secret for a reason.

There must be hundreds if not thousands of amateur astronomers out there ?
Someone must have been covering that part of the sky ?
i want it to be something exciting but surely some information would have surfaced by now ?

All the best

I think they would have to be looking at the sun, and also from that particular perspective. Possible, but unlikely.

Thanks.

To speculate, statistically, it would probably be a military satellite with a configuration that could reveal it's capabilities, and yes, there is a reason for secrecy... for the right reasons.
