miles between me and it. Besides, they closed most the roads up there.

Locally, nobody really is talking about it. News has some bits, but nobody is digging into the story.

Everything I've come across about this disaster has been Twitter, YT or here.

The reporter who was arrested, I'm hearing 2 different stories.
1: the reporter breached the scene multiple times after being ask to stay in the "Safe Area" whatever that may be.

2: the reporter was legitimately arrested with no cause. I hope they sue if so

2 ATS members are very very close to there, I've not seen them chime in yet. I hope they're safe.

Time, time will show. I'm deeply concerned for the family animals and wildlife. The people who live there, I hope they start leaving a paper trail of medical visits. Every bit of paper possible.

I don't know much about this spill, but it seems that's just the way they want it, so I'll have to read up on it before I can form an opinion on how serious it is.

So there's a town meeting tonight, Norfolk Southern was supposed to show up and speak along with the mayor.

Now Norfolk Southern is saying they may not come due to health concerns of their employees. No clue if death threats were made.

Wow..

In a statement at 4:38 p.m. on Wednesday, the company said it has become "increasingly concerned about the growing physical threat to our employees and members of the community around this event stemming from the increasing likelihood of the participation of outside parties."

What TF does that even mean?
The criminal incompetence at best or historic evil coverup or where ever in between, how is this not 24/7 on all 'news' channels. am seeing the same thing as a few other poster mentioned.

They don't seem to care, which may indicate they are very confident of victory now.

Seems like they're pushing for revolts, or insurrections.

About 9 years ago : we had a horrific train-disaster 'round here.

The downtown area of a lovely little town named Lac-Mégantic was completely obliterated, by a runaway train with many wagons full of fuel.

72 non-pressure dangerous goods DOT-111 tank cars loaded with Bakken Formation crude oil (Class 3, UN 1267). Each tank car carried 113,000 litres (25,000 imp gal; 30,000 US gal) of crude oil.

There are some vids of the frightening fireball.

47 deaths, some of them vaporized, with nary a trace of DNA™ even left.

The Wikipedia linked mentions how the company MMA™ (Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway™ ) was operating their trains with a one conductor system.

The conductor would drive the train for twelve hours, then go rest and eat in a hotel.
They had evolved a practice, where instead of putting the safety brakes on each car, they would skip a couple, here and there, to save time.

Also : the company ordered the conductors to stop the trains on hilltops, to get an easier rolling start, and save fuel thusly.

The Locomotive was faulty, and later caught fire.
Fire-crews came, and turned the locomotive engine off, to extinguish the fire.
MMA was advised, but forbade the engineer from going back to inspect the train.
The running locomotive being shut down, turned-off all of the air-brakes on the train.

Well : the hand-brakes failed, and a big friggin hulk of trouble accelerated downhill, unmanned, unwatched, and unperceived by those in it's path.

They're probably still doing it today.

Families doing everything they can, to protect their little ones : yet having no clue of the unmanned train, sitting at the top of the hill that leads into their sweet little hometown.

But at least the Billionaire™ owners saved a few bucks, eh ?

The technical investigation of the Lac-Mégantic rail disaster looked into the instigating and mitigating factors regarding the incident, one of the deadliest in Canadian railway history, with 47 deaths. It identified 18 factors related to the cargo, maintenance of the tracks, maintenance and operation of the train, and weak government oversight all combined to produce the disaster. Five recommendations for change resulted from the investigation.

It all needed to be said, even if it had been said before.
People need to be way madder than they are about this.
Especially the point I keep trying t make about the farmland and the Amish.
Not that I care too much, or have a connection to them, but they rely on that east Ohio/Pennsylvania land to survive.

Saw a video last night of the East Palestine town meeting, looked like all the Residents showed up. There was a line a mile long.

More reports of animals dying (cats and chickens).

I won't be responding to every comment in here, but I'll reiterate how good it is to see ATS friends/fam in here and thank you for all the excellent comments.
Knowing there are many likeminded peeps out there does give one hope for our future.
I hope we all go out of our way to be good to and bless our fellow citizens as we find more innovative ways to combat the hostile government officials' incompetence (or worse).

People have been bombarded with escalating crises at home and abroad for quite a number of years now.

You watch the news it's all negative from all sides.

They are making things worse while pointing the finger at you simply for existing.

How many people's coping mechanism is to retreat deeper into themselves while staring on in disbelief?

It's like having that dream where you are trying to runaway from something chasing you but you can't seem to build up speed even when the adrenaline kicks in.

I feel bad for anybody who sees this for what it is and the feeling of apprehension that nobody is going to come and say "hold up, this is crazy our government is acting out a globalist takeover plan by crashing the economy and attacking the culture while willing to stifle dissent by any means necessary on the way to WW3 We should probably intervene at some point" .

A lot of people and companies have damning evidence against them out in the public square and your justice department have failed you in every way.

As far as demoralizing psychological warfare goes this is like operating on someone who is unable to move but conscious throughout the procedure. What's more the procedure doesn't help and it's strictly done with turning a profit in mind based on a disease they had a hand in creating.

Not even the way you feel about it all has been left to chance.

It's going to be harder still watching it all go down when you experience so much empathy.

The pete butt guy is one smoothe talker...he has zero experience or knowledge of running a nations transportation system but buys ky jelly in the bulk.

This is a terrible incident, and how the government hasn't stepped in is beyond me. I guess the president doesn't like white people.

I think there have been 6 major derailments this month. Also, don't forget about all the farm fires too. Airline software "glitches" grounding all flight, we've had multiple attacks on power substations on the west coast...

These are coordinated actions.
