So I've been watching the doom porn from afar until there were too many anecdotal events that were getting my attention...mostly supply chain and inflation related. I went to YT to see if I could get any confirmation since the legacy media seems to be hiding the worst of it and only runs the talking points that "they" want on media sites.
Found a guy reporting from his office, he apparently obtains reports sent in from all around the States about economic difficulties. It doesn't take long to put the pieces together, even when the occurrences seem to be unrelated.Southernprepper1 channel has been putting out reports for some time now...all reports from individuals that seem to add up to bad times ahead...kinda freakin this boomer out - only a year+ from retirement, but more importantly, worried about my dear grandkids.
I have held off buying any long-term storage vittles, but I think I might pull the trigger on that.

I watch four different prepper channels and all are ringing the same alarm bells.
Interesting times ahead.

Inflation (consumer price inflation) is well over 15% if measured the way it was measured in 1980s (accounting more honestly for things like food, energy, housing, and not minimizing using "hedonic adjustments", etc.)

John Williams ShadowStats - Alternate Inflation Data

But Biden admin blames "Putin" and other deflections, disregarding the trillions in fiscal stimulus that went out, much of it going to waste/fraud/corruption and abuse by the very people whose salaries get paid by our taxes. Very sad state of affairs SMH

How about them gas/petroleum prices... what percent is due to PUTIN and what percent is due to BIDEN cancelling pipelines and other domestic production?

you're right, I guess I was implying that with the "waste/fraud/corruption & abuse" part lol

tough to be anything other than discouraged/disheartened about the political and social state of the states...

Even more disheartening is where I live, and in my social circles (not a big social circle), most are absolutely oblivious to the waste/fraud/corruption/abuse and actually think the current administration and criminal democrats are better than the criminal republicans. Can't reason with these folks

Everything is right on schedule. We will likely see something by October 5th. Ground shaking. This planet is whistling for more then just the pale horse. Its whistling for all four horses. They are on their way now.

Is it possible to find a new circle? lol, I know it's not always that easy but it's almost too late to insert yourself into a more likeminded location.

On topic, I am in the market for a new wood stove and had one in my cart for under $700.00 I just went to check out today and it is now $1,700.00. Yikes. Guess I missed THAT boat. Hoping they go on sale in the next month or so but who knows. I was also going to build a closed in porch on my 14'x19' deck attached to the front of the house but it is simply not feasible at this time. I don't know if it ever will be. Everything is going sky high.

More so than usual. As a regular viewer you learn to spot the difference.

Buy the long term viddles now because even in best case you have cheaper food because costs are going way up.
Worst case is you actually have to use them to survive.

Literally no side.

Its simply a culmination of all the rubbish going on currently - the kung flu, russia etc etc. Times will get hard; sure I'm not denying that - or that we've definitely not seen the worst of it yet, but people love punishing their members to doom porn. Especially if you watch "prepper" content, they've always got one hand resting on their bug out bags. I was dismissed in 2012 when I said nothing was going to happen, and every doomsday episode since. We'll get through, people are alot of things, but they're also great at finding a way through.

both my wife's family and mine live here in New England (with 2 parents in bad health) so we're anchored here at least for the foreseeable future.

But I guess that's what my ATS fam is for (ironically, ATS is KEEPING my sanity lol)

We had similar prices when Obama enacted the same policies, so 95% Biden. I'm not an expert, but getting more oil on the market might be as easy as tell OPEC nations that "every dollar our gas goes up, we triple aid to Israel". Use their own hate against them.

a reply to: StoutBroux

You are better off finding a good old, pre-2010 or so stove. I bought a new wood stove some 9 or so years ago and because of then new EPA regulations governing exhaust output, the stove turned out to be absolute crap. It had so much air ventilation, the stove could not be dampened down. The only way to regulate the heat output was to limit the amount of wood you put into it. It couldn't be dampened down. I ended up cutting out all the EPA mandated modifications and made it into a pre-2010 configuration. In trying to limit the amount of smoke, all stove manufacturers were required to modify their designs to limit pollution. What they ended up with was instead of putting out a little dirty smoke, these new stoves are now putting out 10 times as much so-called clean smoke.

In some respects I agree with you...I survived the Carter malaise, the dot-com downturn, and the democrat/bankers recession of 2008, and lived to tell about it, with a wife and 3 kids in tow.
But is it cognitive dissonance to believe this is just another blip... I guess we will only know when the biggie hits in retrospect.

Okay this needs to be done so you can see whats going on.
the late george carlin was saying for years and noone listened so lets recap what he said.
THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T GIVE A # ABOUT YOU OR YOUR CHILDREN! Never have.
Now lets break it down for you all. The current administration is slowly killing the economy and have no plans of stopping. Look at fuel prices below from 2021 to now.....Almost double the cost in under a year!
Diesel fuel is out of control almost 9 bucks for a gallon of diesel. Our truckers are the backbone of this nation who transport all our food and items on a daily basis are not going to afford fuel if this keeps going. This is why you are seeing higher prices in stores its costing more to get the stuff delivered so instead of the corporation taking a small loss they raise your prices.
They are coming after womens rights and your guns!
If they cared about our children why has the education system failed our children? They stopped teaching cursive writing. They want everyone in electric vehicles by 2035...only problem our current powergrid is not capable of handling that. expect black outs this summer. The # has hit the fan. Expect major shortages and turmoil and i would not be suprised if we dont see a civil war in the next 12 months.
There are still americans who love this country and will die protecting it for foreign or domestic threats. Look at our food processing plants? 23 burned down in under a year.... WAKE UP

Your going to have to pick a side start thinking now do you love this country or do you hate it?

If i can figure out how to upload pics i will show you

Hold on folks in the end we will be alright. Us boomers have been through it many times. Just reign in your spending, buckle up and save. I remember sitting in the back of a hot ass car in fuel lines of the 70's and many more hard times over the years, you will make it. Eat at home, watch old DVD movies, drop Netflix and the like, make your coffee at home, let Starbucks go for a while 👍.
