you didn't answer my question
I made the payments no one else
attempting to put social security and medicade (also which is withdrawn from my paycheck) as welfare or entitlements is a nice trick
I paid for those things no matter how you attempt to spin I did not.
Ah I see you're confusion now.
The money you've paid in has been used by someone a generation older than you already. Your money is gone.
When you get older, you will (maybe) receive your social security benefits from a much younger person paying into the fund's money. You will in essence be handed someone elses' money. Another person earned money, which the government then collected as mandatory taxes and then redistributed to you in the form of social wellfare.

Let me interject here , as you seem to know little about finance.
Let me end your ignorance on the subject with the following :
Are banks representative of socialism ?
How about cashing a paycheck ?
Paying for something with a debit card ?
Denying ignorance....
Why ?
Some folks try to talk a big game , yet fail.

www.socialsecurity.gov...
nope you are confused
the amount I pay determines the amount I recieive.
no more, no less
were it socialist it would all be equal and include good feelz for all
If I had you mark all the dollar bills that you pay into social security with a sharpie, how many of those personally marked bills are you going to get when its your time to collect (rhetorical questions of course, the answer is none)?
You are being paid with someone elses' money, that was taken from them mandatorily and redistributed by the government. The amount you pay in/take out doesn't change that fact.
Furthermore, how confident are you in the solvency of said fund, and the odds of the payouts valuations changing between now and when you collect?

"We will shut down not just the Senate smoking lounge,
but their cafeteria and their bath house."
That was the clue...hahaha! Senate bath house? That had me laughing bigly.

Excellent replies my dude. I really appreciate the straightforward quality of your posts.
I agree medicaid would be a much easier example to run with but for the sake of relevancy I felt it better to run with Mamabeth's original angle.
