It's a sad and ironic end to a Hollywood hero who has thrilled us all with his work. How ironic that he should pass in such a way but alas, such is the way the world works.

Great guy and a great actor, it's a shame.

At one time most Americans held actors on a high level, not so much anymore, just like the drivers of nascar, they know the risks of the edge and never lift off the throttle. Just like Dean, he will go into history as a daredevil type that tested luck too many times. It is a real shame though, and a waste, RIP.....

He was obviously going too fast and there are reports that he was also too furious.

It's very similar to Michael Hastings....brand new expensive car blows up

the car

Also, Fast and Furious played on Bravo around the time of his death, or right afterwards..

That car is about 5 times the cost of Hastings car, and it doesn't look "blowed up" so much as it does look, "wrapped right the ____ around a tree".

Poles, trees, etc, do not mix well with cars, no matter how expensive they are. In fact, the lighter materials sometimes are worse in certain collisions. (Hence rolls cages etc installed in track cars).

To all of you with the bad puns: He wasn't driving.

It wasn't a telephone pole, it was a light standard, and the car did explode.

This is weird: The backgrounds are different. The first link shows the crash and trees in the picture as well as plants. The second link shows the crash but with a telephone pole and no trees or background bushes.

Different angles. One is more towards the front of the car while the other is straight towards the drivers side of the car. A slight difference in where you're standing could definitely determine if the flowerbeds appear in the background.

Based on all the debris in the road and the skid marks...I'd guess the driver was at high speed and lost control and flipped and rolled...hit the trees...

From the looks of the car, I would say the driver's speed was probably excessive...... Then, that is what generally happens when people drive high performance cars. At least this one didn't kill some other innocent drivers or pedestrians.

Dude must have been going about 200 MPH. Looks like the car just disintegrated.

Here is the location of the accident.

Google Earth Link

34°27'08.14" N 118°34'47.75" W

Appears that the Porsche took the corner way too fast and lost control at the end. Paul walker appears to have taken the impact directly.

That road looks like a race strip haunt. The cars a twisted mess, id say he was dead within a few seconds of impact. I hate to die with someone else at wheel that's bad way to go.
