The above political cartoon was drawn by Pat Oliphant a syndicated political cartoonist

Notice the big lips, buck teeth and the hair. Also notice that instead of applauding the first black women to hold the position of Secretary of State Oliphant relegates her to a parrot. Is this cartoon racist? In my opinion it is.

The above political cartoon was made by Democratic cartoonist Doonesberry.

Brown Sugar? Isnt that a stereotypically racist comment? If you walked up to a black lady on the street and called her Brown Sugar you know how fast the NAACP and ACLU would be on the scene?

The above political cartoon was made by Democratic cartoonist Danziger.

Again a stereotypical view of African-Americans. In this cartoon she is portrayed as barefoot and pregnant with special attention paid to black speech I knows all about aluminum tubes

I find it amazing that the party which claims to champion African-American rights finds it funny to stereotype and make racist comments when a member of that race succeeds. If the democrats truly cared about African-Americans they would applaud the success of Condoleezza Rice rather than degrading her.

unreal.

but the Republicans are the racists, right?

Bush nominated 2 blacks to the highest of political offices, and they are repeatedly ridiculed.

Colin Powell was called an "Uncle Tom".

The DNC knows if they ever lose the black vote, which they should, they are doomed. It is the DNC whoi wants to "keep the black man down", not the RNC.

Nothing new. That's what they do.

They're allowed to get away with it though, because they're democrats and they're supposed to be the only party that cares for blacks and minorities (not really sure where that myth came from).

Oh Boo Hoo. Enough of the Limbaugh and feigned outrage.

Maybe it's the fact she's a liar and the hussy flashed her knee's and the 9/11 commission.

You Republicans go! Looking out for Black Civil rights since... well, it was convenient for you to do so. Now, try appointing some OTHER blacks to high levels.

Nerdling, have you no shame?

Dr. Rice graduated from HS at the age of 15, and was invited to play in the Denver Symphony. She is a very bright and accomplished lady.

But that is why you must knock her down. To maintain control over the "black vote".

You are not worthy of toting her used tampons.

I agree! Just like the Democrats did when they were in office.

I'll take a stab at this. And I'm by far not a left wing nut job.

The first one.....well you have to admit...it does look alot like her. Buckteeth, lips, hair and all. I wouldn't have made her a parrot though...maybe a rat...but that's another thread.

The second one.....I guess if brown suger is so rascist then Mick Jagger is a rascist also? Oh...that's right, he likes black women, that's why he's so rascist?

The third one.....I don't even know what the hell to say about that one. That's the stupidest thing I've seen in a long time. I might be dumb because I didn't get the joke. I know what it's saying about the aluminum tubes...but why are they babies?

Well, I tried. And yes, these could be considered a little rascist...

So, what now? Should these cartoonists be sued or something? I think noone but Condi herself has the right to take offense....and if she does, then she can deal with it I'm sure.

Those cartoons are pathetic. What the hell are they trying to do. Rice is an exceptionally intelligent and capable woman. Her race has nothing to do with anything. Regardless of whether she is nothing more than a mouthpiece for Bush, it has nothing to do with the way she is depicted in those cartoons.

I'm embarassed to be associated in any way with the people putting forth that crap.

Uhh...maybe its because she has big lips, buck teeth and not quite sure what you are talking about with the hair. Looks like he is exagerating her own facial features...not all black people's. Unless you think that all black people have big lips and buck teeth...?

Again, should all democrats ignore Condoleezza's past actions and applaud her just because she is african american? Her being black has nothing to do with it...you are the one focusing on her color here...

May want to ask yourself what stereotypes you have about black people before you start putting the blame on democrats.

You are right, the upper elite democrates in congress are almost as racist as the right wing republicans. Face it all the people in the United States Government with the exception of Obama, powell and the black caucus is pretty much white. I am even lumping in those whose skin color tends to be dark. Powel barely makes this exclusion because he is for african american issues and tend to be the only voice of reason in this administration. The reason being and i am paraphrasing what other black people have said that, in order for some one of color to be in the possition of power like condi or clarence, you have to act more white than most white people and rail against pro-black policies. Therefore praising some one for achieving power by cutting the throats of those they are suppose to be representing is not a good idea and counter productive. To praise it is to recognize that being racist is a good course of action. Aaron McGruder (who is black despite his last name) said that condi is a murderer, and powel is a tom.

The point is that you have too look at how they got to thier possitions in order to deside to praise or condem them.

Nerdling,

Show me where the democrats have appointed blacks to higher or equal positions or in the same numbers. The fact is that Republicans have appointed more minorities to higher positions than the democrats ever have.

Lib's have kept the black community in slavery since Byrd of West Va was a KKK grandwizard. The LBJ war on poverty was just "to keepe'm in their place". Whitehouse tapes of LBJ prove this point.

Look at what they did to Justice Thomas. "Do as I say not as I do" is a good Lib motto.

Oh come on, all cartoonists lampoon their targets.

I note that no one is upset at the way Bush is portrayed, this mock indignation thing is pretty weak. Political correctness hasn't ever been a political cartoonists strong point. Rise above such minor bitchiness...

BTW i think Condalizza Rice is an amazing person, I think she had a PHD by 25 years old. Pitty there isn't a bio around, or more on her ideas.

...the banner seems misgiven!

If anyone of these individuals are Democratic Party officials, I would gladly see them chastized.....but, alas, they are not.
The "racist" spin being worked here is more of the GOP "working the Referee" - protesting every perceived & imaginary infraction in order to have marginal calls go the GOP way , down the road.
In this case, the marginal call is appoint a "YES MAN" as Secretary of State, when she should be removed from any cabinet level task. She's proven herself, even more so than Bush himself, to be unworthy of her role...and that's saying something!

Rice was a seriously flawed national security advisor; the Washington Post points out that "many experts consider her one of the weakest national security advisers" in recent history in terms of managing interagency conflicts. THAT"S THE WHOLE NSA JOB DESCRIPITION!!!!

Cartoons depicting a highly unqualified syncophant, who has zero skills for the job are not only funny, but like those who risked death under the Kings of old Europe, very necessary.

EXACTLY.

Lets review the conservative black role models....Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas....Former Secretary of State Colin Powell...Incoming Secretary of State Condi Rice....

Now, compare to the liberal black role models.....Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Charlie Rangel.

you decide.

Another controversy.
Don't we have enough to worry about instead of making up stuff?

The first pic is a caricature.
1. A representation, especially pictorial or literary, in which the subject's distinctive features or peculiarities are deliberately exaggerated to produce a comic or grotesque effect.
2. The art of creating such representations.

Or is this more racism?

Oh, look at the nose, the cheeks, the chin, the weight! Racist!

The Doonesbury was a joke about the way Bush gives everyone nicknames.
(Remember Enron's "Kenny Boy" Lay?")
More racism?

And Danziger is a Democratic cartoonist? Does he get his paycheck from the DNC?

If he does, he should get fired!

Etc.
