I find it amusing, actually. This government shutdown.

Since the left thinks that life begins and ends with government, the idea of a government shutdown is shocking.

Those that don't rely on government for every need look at it with as much interest as the PayLess Shoe Store closing.

because there are people on this site not directly affected by a government shutdown, does not mean there will be no harm. c'mon beezer, I know you are not that shortsighted

If you rely on an unreliable entity for your needs, then you might find yourself nervous.

If you relied upon yourself, then there'd be no-one to blame.

(just a little food for thought)

Thank you for bringing this up, it is entirely true. Neither party is willing to listen to the other party's perspectives, or even admit they are legitimate....

Neither party is legitimate. All this political noise is a distraction. They keep you involved and agitated with "politics" while they are pursuing their collective agenda.

I really like the forum title "US Political Madness" because what we are seeing can indeed be compared to rabies or other insanity. The only problem is, this diseased political animal has enough military and political power to kill the world 10 times over.

The only real solution is to put this diseased and dying political animal out of the world's misery.

what part of the street outside your house did you build yourself?...what scientific testing equipment do you employ to test for pathogens in your food and water?...what safety board on you on, that inspects and forces the manufactures of the trains, airplanes, autos, that you are transported in, to be safe?...what police force are you a member of that patrol the streets?, what fire equipment do you have in your house that enables you to put out a structural fire in your home?..........I could go on, but the point is, we rely on others, it's called a "sustainable society"

This is politics as usual and not just here through our history but, everywhere. The only problem we have right now is the GOP has no leadership and is spinning in two different directions with the Tea Party dragging it into disaster. The GOP and DNC can never come to normal compromise because the GOP can not even agree with each other. Until the GOP either get its house in order or the tea parly leaves or is kicked out we will see no progress. The White House and the Senate have layed it out on the House if they can not get it in order then you just might see a civil war in the GOP.

That's what the Neocons get for taking the GOP over and then co-opting the Tea party and assimilating it!

We're not ever ALL going to be liberals, and I don't care how hard the liberals try to take over the GOP and then force all the conservatives into their mold - never gonna happen.

The GOP is already dead, and just doesn't know it. It started dying when the neocons took it over and turned it into Democrat Lite, and the dying process is all but complete now. It's redundant - we already HAVE one Democrat Party, and don't need TWO.

The sooner the GOP is buried and a genuine conservative party is born to check and balance the liberal side, the better off we'll be.

ok...so who do you think should be in charge? and in charge of what?...and how much "power" they would have that wouldn't violate the constitution?...and list their names and specific qualifications...I think forums like this could use a dose of reality, of what it is actually like to work in a government of a country that is as large and as complex as ours.

It makes no sense to not tweak and change Obama care to make it good rather than just trying to burn it to the ground.

The only "tweak" I will accept is a provision for anyone who wants to to opt out. You can do what you want with Obamacre as long as myself and others like me are not forced into it.

Barring that, burn it to the ground and bury the ashes.

what part of the street outside your house did you build yourself?...

You talk as if you believe that I somehow need that street in order to be mobile. How quaint!

what scientific testing equipment do you employ to test for pathogens in your food and water?...

Taste buds, eyesight, an olfactory receptors.

what safety board on you on, that inspects and forces the manufactures of the trains, airplanes, autos, that you are transported in, to be safe?.

It's quite a gamble to rely on others, ESPECIALLY bureaucrats who are notoriously ineffective in the real world, to guarantee MY safety, so I don't. I use my own common sense - if it ain't safe, don't get on it. pretty easy for me, actually, since I NEVER partake of airplanes, autos, or trains. I stopped flying when those self same bureaucrats made it such a headache to travel by plane in order to "assure our safety" - the very thing you seem to be patting them on the back for!

..what police force are you a member of that patrol the streets?,

Another quaint example of relying on the unreliable to assure YOUR personal security. The police do a fine job, but they can't be everywhere at once. As it is said, "when seconds count, the police are just minutes away". It seems an unreasonable gamble to me to depend on help that may not make it to me in time to stop anything, only mop up the carnage, so I don't. I handle my own messes.

what fire equipment do you have in your house that enables you to put out a structural fire in your home?

Fire extinguishers and preventive measures. A well carbonized shell of a house after a fire department call does me no good as a domicile, so I keep that from becoming a necessity.

..........I could go on,

So can I, with counters to your sad little diatribe exhorting reliance on others more so than self...

but the point is, we rely on others, it's called a "sustainable society"

people are "society", individuals make it up, not political infrastructure. Those same individuals can either look out for themselves, or hope and pray that someone else gives enough of a crap to look out for them. Personally, I've not encountered enough genuine altruism in the world to make the choice to place someone else in MY driver's seat.

You may do as you like. Don't expect me to follow your lead off of the edge of the cliff, though.

Here all this time I thought the tax payer was in charge, you know the American people, the ones who really built this country, the ones who really protect this country. Oh and I want my mother in law in charge of the money. Enough said.

All those things listed are services I paid for.

None were given to me.

And none are things I expect, or anticipate to go about my daily life.

You may depend/rely on government for everything, I happen to look for any way to reduce any need of federal authority!

Both liberals and libertarians are against authoritarianism, they just have different ideas about the balance of socialism and capitalism.

Huh ?

Liberal legislations are *ALL about authority* !!

In most cases 100%.

The entire Liberal concepts as we know them are authoritative.

*ALL* freedoms are very limited by the Liberal agendas.

Left Wing / Liberal concepts are all based on the Karl Marx models

OK, I'm all for a civil war but could we wait until after the superbowl and the Stanley cup please.

And therein lies a lot of the problem. Let's wait for the Superbowl. Then wait for the new American Idol to be crowned, then the World Series, Nascar Sprint Cup, etc., etc.

TPTB are hoping we're all good little drones stuck to our tv's, while they do their dirty deeds behind our backs. No, right in front of us. But hey, the games on, we won't notice.

Im not sure that things are any more broke than they have always been.
But in this age of information, they just cannot fool us so easily anymore.
People are waking up, but really not in any significant numbers.

I can hear that fat lady singing.
When the power elite get desperate to cling to power, things inevitably turn nasty.
Rats turn vicious when their backs are up against a wall.

All corporate owned media is controlled by the government. The left vs right crap is really getting old and anyone with two braincells bouncing around can see it now.

Look at what they did to Ron Paul just for believing in liberty and freedom. Both sides of the media attacked him and in doing so showed the world what is really going on.

the world knew before Americans the real game. That is why we used to be called "stupid Americans"
80's-90's. I really draw a parallel with the brainwashed Nazi youth when I think of all the mindless sheeple drones.

There already is a thread on it.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

No, that is the "look how stupid and crazy those evil liberals are!" version of this thread.

This is the "wow, look how stupid and crazy those partisan extremists are, I hope they don't destroy the country in their stubborn unwillingness to compromise for the greater good," version of the thread.

The fact that you can't see the difference is a little sad.

Also, just because one incident is mentioned in two threads, that does not mean they're the same topic. I would think a little careful reading should have tipped you off. Aside from the anti-liberal tone of the other OP, that is.
