It will happen sooner or later. When you offer police forces military hardware for pretty much free they are going to snap it up (the 1033 program). Hundreds of millions of dollars worth of military surplus of all kinds is now transferred every year to the 'police' forces of the USA.

Militarising the police means you don't need to deploy the army, you paint the armoured vehicle blue and stencil SWAT on it and you are good to go.

Giving all this hardware to police and expecting it wont be used is like giving a 5 year old candy and expecting him not to eat it.

I'm now wondering if this has anything to with shutdown.....

Fair enough, but the statement alone that they haven't "confirmed" anything... that it is just rumor, more than justifies that they are definitely hiding something.

In other words, they have to create a cover story before they can confirm anything. If nothing was going on we wouldn't be having this conversation.

The only question is whether something is going on, or nothing is going on...but they want to make it into something.

I use to live in Detroit. Unfortunately I only know O'hare Airport and 75. lol Someone must know someone that can wander the St's and give us some more info.
