The tone of his voice as he walked through the door was unnerving. Compared to the sun outside, he looked as if he had been born and bred under the moon, without care or compassion from anyone.

Heading into his room, he recalled the only people that had ever held his hand being lowered into the ground. He recalled the tears he didn't cry and the mediocrity of his movements.

He picked up his guitar and began to play. Just then, the phone began to ring.

He let it ring.

Oh day, where has your sun run off and gone?

He let it ring.

Oh day oh day, where is your light?

He let it ring.

Because I'm standing in the shadow...

and ring.

Of some unholy night...

The message began to play.

"Hey, just checking in to see how you are..."

Oh day, oh day, oh day darling, I've been left here all alone..

"I hope you feel better soon..."

Doesn't seem like I'll be moving very fast...

"I just wanted you to know.."

I just want you ask you day...

"I won't..."

Don't

"ever leave..."

Ever leave

"you alone."

me alone.

"I know you never ask anyone to help you, and I know you probably aren't listening to me. But know that I want you to feel better. i'm not asking to be a martyr here, I just want you to smile. Erase this message if you want, but I'm not going to let you cry all by yourself. I promise, I-"

"Please don't leave."

Gripping the phone in his trembling hands, the guitar fell to the floor with his knees, and in the reciever he heard a heartbeat. On the other end, she heard the faint whisper of a child, crying for someone to hold onto.

Thanks, a friend of mine recently lost his uncle to suicide and his grandmother to old age in a two day period. He came back from their funerals yesterday and i wrote this story for him.

Very touching indeed. I'm sorry your friend lost two loved ones in such a short period of time.
