Months ago Russians were warning about nuclear war if the US attacked Syria. They were not talking about nuclear war between Russia and the US. They
were talking about nuclear war between Syria and the US. Syria has a nuclear weapons program. When Saddam Hussein's reactor was blown up by the
Israels in the 1980s, the plutonium route to a bomb was shut down. He had to divert all his resources to a uranium program, atomic vapor isotope
separation, centrifuges, etc. North Korea has been helping Syria with their nuclear program for some time. The Israelis bombed the Syrian reactor
that the North Koreans were helping them build in 2007. It's been 6 years since they were cut off from the plutonium route. North Korea's main
export is military weapons, mostly missiles. The main reason that North Korea would produce nuclear weapons is so that they can sell them to their
allies. In the recent interview Assad said that he opposed the use of weapons of mass destruction whether they be chemical or nuclear. He skipped
over biological because those are the weapons that he doesn't have. What he was saying is that he is opposed to using his chemical and nuclear
weapons. Now Russia is proposing that the United Nations take control of Syria's chemical weapons to diffuse the crisis. Syria has shown
willingness to do this. This makes no sense if chemical weapons are the only weapons of mass destruction that they possess. The threat of chemical
weapons use is the only thing that stops the US from invading Syria. Assad can give up his chemical weapons because he still would have nuclear
weapons. The moment Syria gives up all their chemical weapons and it seems that the US is safe from any WMDs, America will manufacture a reason to
invade with ground troops. It is at this point that Assad would have to test a bomb to show his deterrent.
