SYRACUSE, NY -- Police used a taser to electric shock a disabled man because he was standing on a bus, as he always does. The man prefers standing because of his spinal injuries, which make it uncomfortable for him to sit. Brad Hulett says he did not want to lose the price of his bus fare, but he also couldn't comply with the request to sit. He says that standing is common on the buses and happens every day. He does it every day. However this day he believes he was singled out because of the way he looks. Hulett suffers extensive disabilities stemming from injuries caused by being struck by a train years ago. He also had open heart surgery recently and feared that police tasers would harm his heart. He is suing because of excessive use of force.

It has been said we should do something besides criticizing, condemning or complaining. Glad I was not there. Can we just ask that LEO treat us as they themselves would like to be treated?

It's fine to ask that but the LEO is trained that total domination and intimidation is the best approach to ensure their safety. The constitution is a secondary concern. It's how LEO training is done and this is how it should be undone.

I have no audio here @ work, why were the JBTs called in the first place? Because the guy wouldn't sit down? He wasn't making a ruckus or anything?

He refused to sit down and stood. Says he always did, but different driver or different bus. After one minute talking to him they dragged him off bus and through him on the ground breaking his hip.

Can't see him resisting but it was nice they lifted his shirt to get good taser plant on the first of two tasers.

Seriously, what the........?!?!?!?!?

The guy is standing on a bus, which, last time I checked, happens, oh, ALL THE TIME, and the driver calls the police??? The police actually COME, and order him off, then, as he stands there calmly, no threat at all, use a TASER on him? The cops, and the bus driver, should be tased themselves, before being fired, and going broke from the massive lawsuit. A taser is to subdue a THREAT without having to shoot, not for any and all encounters, when the cop doesn't like a response.

Again, what the.........?!?!?!?!?
