Thanks it's always easy to make assumptions we all do it but given enough contrast or the sunlight creating a shadow it would probably be easy to see that cut into the desert that and the fact you have a few lines close together around the perimeter of the design.

As long as they don't do an etch-a-sketch "shake" to remove it. Could be kinda devastating.

So, does anyone have the coordinates for this 13 mile circle?? Looked on google earth and cant see it

The closest i have found is 42°42'54.37"N 118°27'33.78"W which is not it.

Yes, if you look at the old photos you can match the land features and deduce that it was located at 42°44'37.89"N, 118°18'48.38"W. Here's a snapshot from Google Earth showing the approximate location.

Since this was made 13 years ago, it wouldn't be visible any more, unfortunately. In Google Earth you can use the history feature to go back and show imagery from 1994, but that's the closest you can get.

You can't imagine what artists are able to do.

Check out the amazing and beautiful sand art of Jim Denevan, for example:

Anyway, not sure about the "13 miles long" affirmation, as the cropcircleconnector.com site states: "consisted of 13.3 miles of lines" which is not exactly the same thing.

Amazing, indeed.

CHEERS: for posting something else, very cool, and displaying the impressive feats that people are capable of.

JEERS: if the intent was to belittle the OPs find, or even attempt to compare the two 'sand' works of art. No where... NO WHERE... near the complexity, size, scope, or impressiveness as the OP.

Not even in the same league. Hell, not even the same sport.

And, btw, does anyone have better coordinates for this thing? 42°44'37.89"N, 118°18'48.38"W is complete sh:t. Unless, the design has been eroded away by now - completely understandable.

And, correct me if I'm wrong - and, maybe I glossed over it, in an earlier post - but...

Each foot of line creation was, exactly

10" wide +
3" deep

So...

Each foot was 360" cubic inches or 30' cubic feet, and...

X 5,280 x 13...

... SO, Where did the 2,059,200 cubic feet, or 189 TONs, of dirt go?!?

WRONG !! 10 x 3 x 12 =360 cubic inches, a cubic foot is 12 x 12 x 12 = 1728 cubic inches!

360 x 5280 x 13 = 24,710,400 cubic inches.

So 24,710,400 cubic inches or 14,300 cubic ft of material.

What makes you think it went anywhere? It is beside the trench....

Hey, dumb dumb - did you even bother to compare units of measure...?

Nope

I'll address the rest tomorrow when not drunk

I corrected you because you are WRONG

10" X 3" X12" = 360 CUBIC INCHES or 0.208333 cubic feet

Cubic Inches to Cubic Feet Calculator

0.208333 x 5280 x 13 = 14,299.97712 cubic feet

LEAVE the maths until you are sober

Fair enough

Despite the value change, no matter what the amount ended up being... it is still a very large one.

So, the question remains... where'd it all go?

Regardless of how old this story is, how little dirt was removed
, or how big the design isn't... this feat was nothing short of amazing.

One thing is for sure: We may not know HOW these magnificent works of art are created, or by WHOM (or what) they are created, but there IS an answer. I, for one, am intensely interested in the answers to questions like this! In a similar "crop circle" type of puzzle, underwater "sand art" is discovered to be the creation of a tiny puffer fish! The lil' guy creates something that we humans could only create with the use of "sophisticated tools" (such as the compass, if not a computer!). Here is the proof: Puffer Fish Sand Art

Edit: I tried to insert the video but managed to only insert the link to it. Sorry 'bout that! Will figure it out eventually...

Extremely hard compact dirt... Maybe that's why
there are no visible tracks or footprints?

Indeed, weak arguments

.

I initially thought the same thing, but then I started thinking about the swatches of hard, compacted soil I used to play in as a child growing up on a farm. During the summer in Missouri, these patches were impossible to dig into (by a child without more than a hand shovel), but there was always a fine layer of soil on top of the hard stuff which I played with as if it were sand.

The article previously linked says this about the subject:

"Researchers who subsequently visited the site noted that the ground was impenetrable below the top 1/4" of dry, powdery earth. No tire marks at all were present, not even from the alleged 'cultivator', although a month later as vehicles drove up to the Formation, the tires of those vehicles' left 1/4"-deep impressions in the crumbly earth."

The crop circles are definitely made by earth dwellers only. No aliens come to make them.

Why? Because the rulers of earth believe in magic, in doing things that impress and overwhelm people.

Aliens is a very interesting concept in keeping people preoccupied with imaginary fears.

My advice - don't worry about such things. There is no meaning good or bad in such designs.
