Russians to US: Boston bombing suspect, mother discussed jihad in 2011

Russian authorities have told U.S. investigators they recorded a 2011 telephone conversation between Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his mother in which the pair discussed jihad, according to a source briefed on the investigation.

The conversation, which Russians have said was captured electronically via a wiretap, was not presented to U.S. authorities until after the April 15 bombing that killed three people and injured 264 near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, according to the source. Tamerlan Tsarnaev also mentioned the possibility of a trip to Palestine during the conversation, the source said.

There is a lot of speculation going on, about what motivated the two Bombers to carry out an attack. As well as whether or not they acted alone or received any form of training. But the fact that counter-terrorism sects. and Russian officials already had preconceived notions about them before April 15th, speaks volumes on the amount of information that has yet to be released to the public. Although the article goes on to mention several 'mistakes' the bombers had made, pointing to the possibility of them working alone.

I wonder what influenced their phone lines to be 'wiretaped' in the first place? And this comes after other reports claiming the Tsarnaevs' were included in the U.S. Terror-Database, as early as 2011.

Boston bombing suspects' mother was in U.S. terror database

The mother of Boston Marathon bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was placed in a U.S. terror database in the fall of 2011, a counterterrorism official confirmed to NBC News. Zubeidat Tsarnaeva was placed on the database by the Central Intelligence Agency at the same time as her older son Tamerlan

Clearly the FBI & DHS new about these people, and knew they could pose a potential threat to 'National Security'.

review of government records found that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was entered into three classified counterterrorism databases, according to public statements by government officials and NBC News sources. He was entered into a Guardian file maintained by the FBI, as well as Homeland Security’s TECS database and a master TIDE list maintained by the National Counterterrorism Center. The entries for Tamerlan Tsarnaev used some different spellings and dates of birth, a U.S. official brief on the probe said. An email alert was sent to a Homeland Security officer in the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force office in Boston when Tamerlan Tsarnaev traveled to Russia in January 2012, sources have told NBC News, but that spurred no further investigation.

It's reminiscent of the two different types of 9/11 conspiracy theories. There are those who believe the Govt. was involved and helped fund the attacks, and those who say the Govt. knew the attacks were going to take place, and let them happen.

This too me, raises more questions than it answers, but it's still another piece in the puzzle that is this 'ongoing investigation'.

I believe that this has already been posted.

Interesting how its a foregone conclusion that the pair is guilty.

IMHO, the media has done everything in their power to convict these two.

Of-course the original suspects looked completely different, video of the "dark skinned" man dropping a backpack near the store shortly before the explosion took place.

Thats one video that will never see the light of day.

May want to save a copy of the above story to a server. The sources have already been edited to erase any mention.

Will do.

It's funny how the same CNN correspondent broke the news that an arrest had been made. But then other officials claimed there must have been a some kind of 'misunderstanding.' Followed shortly there after, by a bomb scare, evacuating everybody 100yds away from the building.
