I think I found the right one on google maps, you can see west fertilizer in the upper right, with the middle school just across the street. Marable Street, if that is the one they are saying not to cross, is further west of the plant.

Stating on the scanner that they do not want any responding units going closer than merrible (sp?) street. Hazmat 3 is only allowed beyond there? Not sure if I heard that right, but they must be worried about toxic fumes from the fire, and other toxins from the explosion.

You did hear that Correctly. I heard it too. Also they are reporting on the scanner feed that Haz Mat containers may have exploded/caught fire?
The impact of this is going to go WAY beyond the explosion itself IMO... Fertilizer mixed with other hazardous materials mixed with billowing smoke and fire... I'm concerned for all the helivac and others flying in the area breathing in that toxic mix...

According to scanner....

Water pressure is low, and trucks are running out.

Main part of downtown is not passable.

The other containment tank at the plant has caught fire.

There was another in in Texas in the 40's...

The Texas City disaster was the deadliest industrial accident in U.S. history. The incident took place on April 16, 1947, and began with a mid-morning fire on board the French-registered vessel SS Grandcamp which was docked in the Port of Texas City. The fire detonated approximately 2,300 tons of ammonium nitrate[1] and the resulting chain reaction of fires and explosions killed at least 581 people, including all but one member of the Texas City fire department.[2] These events also triggered the first ever class action lawsuit against the United States government, under the then-recently enacted Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), on behalf of 8,485 victims.

So what do you think: are we living a circular crises situation? Obviously, something is up or down, dependant upon your orientation. Just asked you, because you dug up the previous.....and some of us have theories about the repetitiveness of certain events, and where they lead and why they happen.

I didn't make out what they said caught fire, but I wanted to say that I heard 3rd container of hydrazine(?) caught fire. Maybe one of the holding tanks at the factory? I did hear them say they smelled a chemical earlier and they were instructed to get out of the area until hazmat checked it out.

Ok it's clear now that another holding tank is on fire.
Not sure what chemical is in that holding tank, but it can't be good.

Heard there was a fire earlier in the day? How was that fire started? Also heard it was put out but that it had rekindled (obviously), but how? Can someone please explain how fertilizer plants work (the basics)?

I think the tank on fire was reported on the radio to be anhydrous ammonia.
