I have no clue what happened to it, but, for some reason it no longer works. It is up to date, as far as I can tell.

I first noticed it when try to play around with the JPL orbit diagrams and then again when I tried to get into ATS chat. It freezes up and I end up having to kill the pages.

What am I missing? How do I fix it?

I am running windows 8, I browse with chrome, and do not have any viruses as far as I can tell. I use Essentials and Malwarebytes.

Thanks in advance (:

Try it in a different browser such as IE and see if it still locks up....also check for updated video/MB drivers etc, these things can be a right pain to find and sometimes its quicker to nuke and reinstall than spend hours trawling through registry entries, process dumps and all sorts of other 'good stuff'

Hey Daryllyn,

Try clearing out your flash cache. There may be something out of whack hiding in there causing you all the grief.

www.macromedia.com...

On this page make sure you are on the "Website Storage Settings" panel, its the one with a folder and a green arrow, second to last tab.

Click on Delete All Sites.

This will remove all stored files for any sites you have used in the past, so there is a chance of some loss if you have any saved settings for those sites. Kind of like clearing your temporary internet data, but for flash specifically.

Let me know how this works.

I know my basic way around.. or I think I do. Have always done okay..

Is your java runtime uptodate? as i'm sure ats chat uses java and a quick visit to the JPL site brings up it needs java

Could it use both?

Because chrome starts crying about flash when I try to go to it. Still checking that, though. Updating it now.

Regress back to the prior version of Flash. Start / control panel / add-remove software - then remove the latest update.

Thanks everyone for trying to help me fix it.

But, I think I have made it worse somehow, or something else was wrong. There might be a virus after all. I lost the ability to do anything with my virus software? Restarted in safe mode, rkilled, and now its finally letting me scan.

I hope I can fix it.. I have only had this laptop for a few months.
