There is something steely and hard edged about a good rock ballad. Post what you think is made of steel.

Five Finger Death Punch - Far From Home

Hurt - War

Staind - It's Been Awhile

LYNYRD SKYNYRD - SIMPLE MAN

GOB - Underground

Dear Infidel,

Firstly an instrumental ballad. Buckethead - Soothsayer

Secondly, YouTube - Heart - Alone.

At least those are my choices.

How awesome! THAT is the first song that got me into hard rock and onto metal! Kiss Alive II. I saved my allowance up, as a kid, to buy it!

Dearest Heff,

I remember when it came out, I didn't even like KISS, I was an Alice Cooper fan and thought they ripped him off. Beth was the first and best heavy metal ballad that I can think of. The one area they beat Alice at. He wrote some slow songs; but, I don't consider then ballads. I shall post the one I think is the closest.

YouTube - Alice Cooper - Crazy Little Child

I consider this song to be more jazz than a ballad. By the way, one of the moderators was very nice to me recently. I still think you guys and ladies do a great job.

Dear Infidel,

I didn't think anyone would like my old school choices. Here is another by heart that the men they dumped thought was their absolute best and I really like it. I am just not sure if it is a ballad, it starts as one but becomes very metal. I leave it for others to decide if it qualifies.

Dear cody599,

I guess I am not sure where I think the line is between jazz and ballads. I really loved that version of Hallelujah, than you so much for posting that. I personally really enjoy this version of the song YouTube - Carly Rose Sonenclar - Hallelujah - X Factor USA Finals . I am not sure I think it is a rock ballad.

I wouldn't know a ballad if it jumped up and kicked me in the gunions, so don't worry. LOL

Heart - Dreamboat Annie (Reprise)

Hurt - Fighting Tao

Hinder - Better Than Me

Listen sweety, I know me, very well, and you can do a lot better.

Dear Infidel,

We are definitely touching some of the same road. I always considered Elton John to be pop; but, when he came out, we had never heard anything like him and he had some strong guitar in the background. I still don't consider him metal (Alice, ACDC, KISS, Jimi Hendrix), still, when this song came out it was so odd, it had a metal element, it was sort of a ballad and something else that I don't have words for. Again, you decide.
