I sincerely hope you will find the cause of your tinitus, and can do something about it! It's an affliction that can be downright annoying, but if you can keep yourself busy during those times it's getting to you, the noises won't be quite so bad. You might even be surprised to wake up some morning and find your tinitus has suddenly disappeared for no reason that you can think of. Good luck!

There are two kinds of Tinitus. One involves the ears and one involves the auditory part of the brain or sometimes the filtering system of the brain. Mine is related to my temporal lobe epilepsy. It has nothing to do with the ears. It came in an instant one day and hasn't left. It gets worse when I eat high sugar food. It is related to excess energy flowing through the brain sometimes. I use it to monitor the state of my epilepsy, it works pretty good.

I read an article that said possibly a third of the tinitus out there may be something in the brain. I guess as long as it is making the noise the brain is still working

This is very interesting. I have had tinitus ever since my brain tumour reoccurred last July. It comes and goes in intensity, but always there in some form. My oncologist didn't seem to think it was related, but it certainly wasn't there before. Mine is like hearing a very high pitch frequency, the more you think about it though the more intense it gets. So I guess mine must be related to brain activity. Do you have any info on brain related tinitus?

I have the brain related type myself. It started the Saturday after a car accident I was in. According to the neurologist, my Temporal lobe got injured causing Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. The rerouting of some of the brainwaves hits the area where hearing is registered I assume so the noise started to occur. I have been using the sound to judge the state of my epilepsy since I am allergic to all the epilepsy meds. I use diet and some supplements to control it.

I notice when I eat sugar the sound gets louder. Since it is stray signals, I think the more energy up there the more sound. So I have cut way down on sugars, using certain fats instead to produce energy. Metabolizing fats causes slower thinking but the slower thinking is very thorough. I was used to fast thinking and "automatic" but the automatic has been severely suppressed. Now I am forced to learn what my subconscious used to do automatically. Studying my subconscious is very interesting. Studying the reason for cravings is complex and takes a lot of research. I am getting pretty good at finding the stuff I need to know on the net though, learning how to word things to get to good sources.

Don't think of your new sound as a defect. Mine caused an opening of the mind and accentuated creativity. I can just about figure anything out now as long as I can access research. I learned to find who is desiring the research and the parameters of the testing. I access motive to see if the research is legit.

I am trying NAC now with a little magnesium and molybdenum supplement. I eat boiled cabbage in soups to help control the epilepsy also. Got the diet down pat and I have asparagus growing outside in case something happens and my necessary food gets hard to get. From my research I have learned how TPTB dope us up to allow them to remain in control. The government is only a corporation being guided by them. I don't yet know who tptb consists of, it may just be multiple disorganized power hungry people. I don't care anyway, I am just trying to learn how to combat the stupid food chemistry in the Western diet. I feel those in government and healthcare may be clueless to this chemistry that has gone awry. I realize that food chemistry needs to be there to keep things civil but they are hurting some good people by pushing it on everyone. Everyone is different with different needs. If the government wants the kids to do good in school they need to eliminate a few foods and do some adjusting on the menu.

I too have woken to the sound of chanting. I often have OBE's, one morning I woke up to the sound of a chant, with my eyes closed I layed there waking up trying to identify the noise, and realised I was the one chanting. I was saying "OMMMMMMMM, OMNI OMNI OMNI OMMMMMMMM,.... Repeated it about three times before I realised it was me. Once I became aware, the vibrations for the OBE started, then blast off about five seconds later. I have never chanted Om, or heard the chant I was speaking until that morning. I would like to add, I was in a dream that I can't remember at the moment, but I literally woke up to the sound of my self chanting, dream ended, blackness from my eyes closed, fully able to think. Even if I still had '___' running through my body, I don't understand why my body would have chosen that specific phrase to chant, while my brain is fully occupied with a dream, and continue after awakening.

Yes thats whats happening to you but in a milder form. If you focus on the sound and repeat the mantra, who knows you may slip through the matrix, the monks are the healers and guides. you should count yourself lucky that you are starting to hear the inner sound of the soul, why not read up on it so you can see for yourself.. try not to lose out on your oppertunity of awakening, even if it only be a partial awakening, focus on the Sound Current and slip into the Divine

I had no idea it could be related by a tumor or epilepsy. I'm not going to freak, but thank you BIG time for your input. Ok, maybe worry just a lil bit.

I read somewhere that if the tinnitus is present, the mind is still trying to heal itself. A mild stroke in certain areas can also cause tinnitus. Not the type originating from the ear though.

You convinced to back to my ENT doctor. They wanted to do more tests, but I was like...why bother. I assumed it was from working on the flight line or in one of the manufacturing companies I owned. Thanx again.

Sadly to say, most doctors will just assume it is from the ears. There is no real test to show exactly where the problem is that I know of. Mine started in an instant, three days after the accident, so it was easy to tell that it was not the ears. The sound is balanced, sort of like it is in the exact middle of the head most times, the way it was when it started. If it was in the ears, the sound wouldn't be effected much by sugar either. I did some in-depth research into it. I spent over a week studying this, reading multiple articles and venturing into some pretty technical research articles where I had to look up many words to find their meaning as applied to the article. Many words in science have different meanings depending on the application. I think it is classified under what is generally called hyperacusis. Your case could just be in the ears also. I quit going to general practitioner, she always sent me to the wrong specialist. I did have a good neurologist though. If you got good insurance, they seem to send you to see every specialist but the right one.
