Live Journal Photo Credit Medievalist Emir O. Filipovic

This 15th Century manucsript, datas back to March 11th, 1445, photograghed with inky
cat paw prints accross the pages. The book is from the State Archives of Dubrovnik.

Emir O. Filipovic of the University of Sarajevo's History Department
discovered the medieval kitty prints, and tweeted the photograph.

Full sized photo here twitter.com...

And so once again we find that cats have been walking
on everything since forever...well...almost forever.

Darn it IkNOwSTuff, you beat me to it!

OP I'm surprised they don't find more cat prints in other ancient documents. I wonder if there are cat prints on some of the ancient Egyptian papyrus scrolls?

Hahaha that's awesome.

And you know.. you just know, that even back then, that cat was saying "yeah yeah, fetch me a mouse." casual as you like, all over the manuscripts. haha..

I agree. It was probably dinner time and the dude wasn't paying attention. My cats make life hell if I work past dinner - especially the Siamese

Cats have this uncanny knack for finding you concentrating and interrupting you,
in a way that is hard to ignore, and hard to resist!

this makes me so damned happy! i immediately began to imagine what this kitty may have looked like (boy or girl? orange or tabby?) i am also guessing that the kitty was well loved and their person was likely tickled by the feline contribution. "cat, ye have left thine mark and now 'tis time for a treat".

I think we need to do an in-depth analysis of the kitty prints to see who the culprit really is.

Perhaps lifting the prints and discovering DNA?

Only then will we discover the true evildoers of times past.

Peace

Kitties have always been suspect IMO.

Damn little evil, furry, cute, fuzzy demons that piss all over the rugs, scratch your valuables and absolutely destroy any manliness us men may have remaining.

GODS...they are not!

Peace

This is all true....but hey have you seen the ancient drawings of them
looking like aliens? I even saw one with a sort of jet pack on....
and orange contrails coming out the back...
