The next Pope will be African

I've been thinking about who the next Pope will be, and I've come to the conclusion that he will be of African descent. With all the turmoil in Northern Islam-dominated Africa, and ethnic cleansing going on in Central and South Africa, it just seems fitting that an African man would be elected to represent the Catholic Church.

I've hear this speculation but it is also said the Italians have been patiently waiting for an Italian Pope. It stands to reason considering location alone. It was also widely thought that because the US is a Superpower with a black President the Cardinals would not decide to also have a black Pope. I am not sure why though guessing the race card is likely being played with this one, otherwise I would probably agree with you.

I'm pretty sure that the next pope will be a black man. It's also entirely possible that he will be the last pope as the prophecy proclaims. The Vatican is in turmoil both financially and legally. I would not be surprised at all to hear that they dissolve at some point in the future.

Ultimately it comes down to what the Cardinals decide. I could see them selecting a European, but I think that would be greedy and bad for the future of the Catholic Church. My gut tells me that between a growing African Catholic population and the crises facing Africa's immediate future, the Catholic Church wants their hand in that global pie.

Well I said last week Peter Turkson was my choice. Hey maybe I'm right that'd be cool. However always desiring the supernatural to play its hand I'd be lying if I didn't say there's a small part of me hoping for John Paul the II's return.

Another beauty pageant to humor the fairy tale. Oh well, at least it's -slightly- more inclusive than it's been for thousands of years. Even if it is just because a political opportunity has arisen.

I say it doesn't matter who the next pope is, because he's still going to be a bronze-age-minded bigot who prefers to live in the world of Magic: The Gathering than reality.

Or have you never heard of a Black African Priest? Bishop Desmond Tutu, does the name ring a bell? I don't know what denomination he is but he is African! He is Black and he is/was a Bishop!
