I found this article on Discovery news.
Resigning Pope brings Doomsday Prophecy

Is the world only a Pope away from the End?
Yes, if you believe a chilling 12th-century prophecy. Attributed to St. Malachy, an Irish archbishop canonized in 1190, the Prophecy of the Popes would date to 1139.

The document predicted that there would be only 112 more popes before the Last Judgment — and Benedict XVI is 111. The list of popes originated from a vision Malachy said he received from God when he was in Rome, reporting on his diocese to Pope Innocent II.

The prophecy consists of brief, cryptic phrases in Latin about each Pope. It ends with the 112th pope, named “Petrus Romanus” or “Peter the Roman.” According to the premonition, Peter the Roman would “feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the City of the Seven Hills shall be utterly destroyed, and the awful Judge will judge the people.”

Thus, there you have it.
2012 Doomsday was a big disappointment for all of everyone that thrives on Doompr0n.
Have no worries. Your days of milking out excitement and thrills in fantasizing about the end of the world aren't over!

Now you can obsess about this next Pope and be equally disappointed when this prophecy, too, "Peters" out in a resulting non-event.

Dust off your doom drums from the month and half vacation they've taken.
It's safe to bring them out and start banging on them again.

Won't this all kinda fizzle out when the next pope doesn't use the name or fit? I mean...the next one couldn't, could he? They wouldn't.... Nawww.... They just wouldn't.

Assuming for a moment, he doesn't use the name anyway, that does contradict the core of the prophecy doesn't it?\

(noting, this isn't one I'd want to see come true. Definitely not my favorite)

From the article, at the bottom:

As for the doomsday pope, one would think we are quite safe: according to church tradition, no pope can take the name Peter II.

However, one of the favorites to succeed Benedict XVI is Ghanaian Cardinal Turkson. His first name is Peter.

Read the whole article. It's rather amusing, and even more amusing knowing how many are waiting with bated breath, hoping against hope that there's at least some tiny little thread available to cling to, like a nip-slip celeb picture, to fan their lurid flaming fantasies of apocalypse.

It's not the same 12,21.12 was supposed to be it .Von Daniken said so in the movie "Chariots of the Gods" and I was hoping, but no.I was denied.
I guess I'll just die of natural causes...boring.

It's understandable that you're hesitant to go out dating any other doomsdays, especially so soon after the last one turned out to be all tease and no tickle.
You're gun shy.
It's okay.
It'll take time for you to warm up to any new 'girls' after the amount of hype the last one dumped in promise, but, give it time. This one might not have the flash the last one did, but, you might warm up to her.

Wait to see if the next pope is a Peter by given name, nickname, middle name, has any association with the name Peter, Petrus, or any variation of it, and/or the term "Roman" from the shape of his nose, hairstyle, something orated in a sermon past, or any other sign.

Look for it like a flirting smile, or the twinkle of promise for more to come later.
Baby steps.

Soon enough you'll be cutting a rug with this new girl; full of confidence and promise yet again.

If not this one, then, there's certainly other fish in the sea soon to come that will make your doom drum go boom.

If you keep paying attention to the doomsayers... you'll miss what's actually happening believing "nothing" is happening.

Good luck with that.

There are people out there demonstrating the "shift" that has nothing to do with "doom". But doom is what gets the attention. *shrug*

Oh, yes. I nearly forgot; there's that fall back position all the nutters are calling "The Shift".

Honey, you could label any era, century, or time span during the course of human history and pre-history "The Shift" in making ambiguous allusion about some change, shift, awakening, or whatever other term you want to give it, and not actually be too far off the mark.

Pick ANY decade in the last 100 years and even a shaved money with downs syndrome can point out a progression of "progress", "advancement", "evolution", or, as said, any other similar word.
Pick any Century in the last 1000 years and the same especially challenged monkey could still pick out a "shift" from earlier civilizational states.

W'ere human beings. We're changing ALL THE TIME.
In today's information age of electronics growing more powerful and "smarter" all the time, all connected by an ever increasing in sophistication communications network worldwide, our self awareness of our own developments and advancements are all the greater.

Sure. You can tag some mythological magical mystery terminology like "The Shift" onto the state of constant flux and growth that humanity worldwide has demonstrated since even pre-history if you want to.
There is, however, no "Shift" in the prophetic sense.

Certainly you got your (not personal, but the royal 'you' and 'your', the majestic plural, as in anyone sharing similar belief, so this isn't a personal attack) fragile gawking little feelings hurt by letdown after letdown and for lack of anything more ridiculous and fantastic to latch onto, you've (majestic plural once again) adopted a less hard boiled fanaticism in kooky nonsense.

"The Shift", huh?
Whatever you say honey.

*shrug* Suit yourself!

My posting record (including as ErgoTheConfusion) is consistent on this manner well before and after regardless of whatever other people you opted to listen to.

And of course there are dramatic "shifts" in the past. It would be absurd to suggest otherwise and is the entire reason dismissing it now is silly just because most people don't know how to recognize it and the implications for what it fully is while smack in the middle of it. Just like how most people had no idea (and still are barely truly cognizant) of the shift from Newtonian to Relativistic perspectives... or the transition from the "Age of Enlightenment" to the "Romantic"... or transitioning from the Industrial to the Informational age, blah blah blah.

We're in the middle of another that is more dramatic than any of the others that came before... and for the first time we have a tool to collectively *watch* and *comment* on it in real time as it happens.

When the history of today is written tomorrow... it will be identified as a key transition period no different than the "key transition periods" we've identified from before. Of course it's not *actually* a specific moment... no more than the "Winter Solstice" is actually a specific moment... but it is a "marker" point for reference of a "change of direction".

Some people thrive off of the perceived impending doom it is like a mental disorder for them. They seem almost giddy with anticipation. Maybe it is like a rollercoaster ride for them or how others love watching horror movies where it is a rush for them. I am sure one day there will be a study about those types.

I don't think you understood my reply. I was agreeing with you. The people you are talking about do indeed thrive on the doom. Just like those who thrive on writing about those who thrive on doom. They are two peas in a pod... feeding each other.

I provided links to my posts before the "critical date" so I'm not concerned with any mockery you wish to toss my way. My stance has been and will continue to be consistent. Consciousness is shifting... and it's a big one... and Dec 21st, 2012 was an "important" date in so far as the effect it had on the collective consciousness including the disappointment for everyone waiting for "doom" or "magic". The effect is real even if their expectations were not. The implications will be easy to see in hindsight for those who weren't able to see it with foresight.

But your mockery is amusing and appreciated for what it is.

I misunderstood my apologies then. However I do not call it shifting of conscious I simply call it life. Change is constant and I don’t see anything mystical about it.

No worries at all... there is a TON of stuff tossed out about this topic from every angle so the attitude of "screw you all" is understandable.

Consciousness is pretty mystical all on it's own, we just take it for granted because we're immersed in it like fish take water for granted. That said, I've not used the term mystical, have I?

I believe that anything we might call mystical in the "discoveries" moving forward will come out in a way that makes us slap our foreheads and go "duh!" in the same way Lightening was "mystical" at one time but now we just call it "Electricity" and utilize it for all sorts of mundane things.

If you read the two posts I edited into my larger post above you'll see I agree with you... except I do feel that when "today's history" is written "tomorrow" this window in time will be recognized and called out in particular even though it was "always happening".

There *is* a fundamental difference in our collective consciousness that is dramatically "shifting" into high gear in this "age"... that is unlike any other aspect of a collective consciousness this planet has experienced up to this point.

Is there a reason why you keep spelling it 'pr0n' instead of 'porn', or is that just an accident? I'm just curious because it seems intentional.

I personally don't think who the Pope is means anything to the world, or at least my world, but there are a lot of prophecies out there to latch on to even if this one fizzles out.

It's difficult for me to see any Pope as nothing more than an elected official. Certainly no more 'Holy' than you or I. To me it's just like a Senator stepping down and someone else taking his place.

Touche.
Certainly a valid point made there.

There is a symbiotic relationship on this site between the eager believer ready to jump head first into any conspiracy and the aloof skeptic waiting to bath in the ego boosting easy victory.
