17 year old boy throws 9 year old boy off 5 story building in New York

Hi all

I really dont know what to say,headline says it all.

The 9 year old is somehow still alive,but in crirical condition.. the 17 year oldsays they got in a fight .What the hell is a 17 year old doing even fighting a 9 year old..

I think this kid probably lured the 9 year old to the roof so he could throw him off.. Hopefully the 9 year old lives to tell his side

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after police say he admitted to throwing a 9-year-old boy off the roof of a Bronx apartment building Friday night, critically injuring him.

The 9-year-old boy was found on the pavement unconscious with severe body trauma in front of the five-story building on Nelson Avenue in Morris Heights at around 8:30 p.m., authorities said. He was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital where he is listed in critical condition

I can not believe hes still alive after being thrown off this roof..

Jeez man, wtf is wrong with some people.
I got in many fights as a kid/teen/young adult but I would never consider throwing someone off a roof and hell at 17 I wouldnt bother with a 9 yr old, thatd be like swatting a gnat.

Is it possible that it is gang related?

Or some type of initiation?

I hope the 9 year old makes it through without too much permanent damage. Children at the age sometimes have remarkable healing ability and grow into adulthood showing little or no long term effects.

Hopefully this will be the case here...

I really hope he survives.



and the 17 year old doesn't get leniency for being 'under 18'.

Must now ban buildings in NY which are over 2 stories in height.

Ban NY Obviously I am kidding there are still a lot of good people there.

Should have known it was the bronx of all places. I hate the sight of that place.

That's life there. Crime and violence and some.

Good that the boy survived, hopefully he will fully recover being young and resilient.
Hopefully the thug will be tried as an adult.

Are people really comparing apartment buildings to guns?

Apartment buildings..... that people use for housing and shelter....to a gun that fires a projectile at high velocities in order to inflict as much damage as possible...

I'm saddened by this.

My most wonderful beautiful youngest son is 9. I hope that there is a circle of Hell that is for those that harm children.

At 17, the person should have known better.

A special prayer tonight for that young child.

This is a symptom of a major social issue we are facing.

It's about problems, and how we are taught to solve them.

Or rather, how we are not taught to solve them rationally at all, and instead are faced with unrestrained primal instinct which facilitates the devolution from anger into violence.

If people are dead set on sending their kids to school, perhaps a Anger Management class is in order?

At 17??? When I was 5 I used to pretend I was superman, but I still knew not to jump from high places. The only excuse this 17 year old MAN better have is that he's mentally challenged. Otherwise, I want him gone from society.

Agreed. But I will let the courts deal with him. I was more concerned with the actions against a child.

Why not, they compare everything else to guns. I can say I was always against gun control, however seeing so many people on this website who are obviously mentally disturbed fight(not all of you) so hard for that right, I am really questioning my stance.

I dont know why but something tells me that the 17 yr old assaulted the 9 yr old and tried to make him quiet from telling on him.
Regardless, it's beyond shameful that this has happened. Ill stop now from saying more.

Eta: society has started to go primitive imo, regressing in a sense.
