The Taliban have responded to Prince Harrys remarks which compared his Afghan duties to an Xbox/Playstation game. The Taliban believe the 3rd in line for the throne has developed some sort of mental problem.

Sky News Australia

Britain's Prince Harry, who compared shooting insurgents in Afghanistan with playing video games, 'has probably developed a mental problem', the Taliban says.

'There are 49 countries with their powerful military failing in the fight against the mujahideen, and now this prince comes and compares this war with his games, PlayStation or whatever he calls it,' Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told AFP on Tuesday.

The taliban figher continues to explain how serious the war is and how this war is a historic moment for the people of Afghanistan while also saying that they don't take the comments seriously and with that used an example of soldiers leaving the war/country with mental issues.

'This is a serious war, a historic war, resistance for us, for our people,' Mujahid told AFP by telephone from an undisclosed location.

'But we don't take his comments very seriously, as we have all seen and heard that many foreign soldiers, occupiers who come to Afghanistan, develop some kind of mental problems on their way out.'

The Taliban has been waging an insurgency in Afghanistan for 11 years since being ousted from power for harbouring al-Qaeda chief Osama bin laden after the 9/11 attacks on the United States.

During the war, they have faced more than 140,000 troops from over 50 countries but remain a serious threat to the Western-backed government with NATO troops due to withdraw in 2014.

As much as I don't like saying it, you gotta give it to the taliban. How they have lasted this long is beyond me. 11 years later and they are still resisting the numerous countries who have waged war in Afghanistan. As for Harry, I think maybe he should get out of his chopper and see what sort of video game he would be playing on the ground.. Its easy to feel condifent, even good about yourself when your sitting in a cockpit dropping missiles on people.

Harry was a ground pounder before he became a chopper pilot.

There is already a large thread on this, where it has been discussed that when the full interview was actually watched that he was not comparing killing to video games at all. Please use the search function.

Oh my I think I may for the first time agree with them on one thing. I think it is possible that Harry's words may have been taken out of context as being the gunner of an Apache is superficially quite similar to operating a videogame. Killing people from an Apache is superficially quite similar to operating a videogame. These are true. However they could be right and the kid could be sick in the head. I don't know. Those royal dynasties did interbred a lot.

I am curious if Mujahid is an alias rather than a surname.

Doesn't Mujaheddin mean holy warriors or something similar? Would Mujahid be the singular of Mujaheddin?

Good.

Now Taliban have legitimate reasons to kill Harry. By whatever means. Terminate with extreme prejudice.

Oh, if possible, put the score on youtube.

Western soldiers kill little girls for going to school? News to me. ATS has become so full of crap lately with the anti Western sentiment and pro taliban/muslim nonsense. You're not edgy, you're an idiot.

I guess the photos of American soldiers posing with a naked child they just killed were photoshopped yeah? gets some brains about ya, your the idiot. They may aswell shoot little girls in the head for going to school.

The Taliban never miss an opportunity to capitalize on something like this, they are just as propaganda prone as anybody else. They are always ready to try and paint themselves as glorious Islamic defenders against the evil west. In truth they are morally redundant with their brutal medieval religious extremism.

The big difference for me between Taliban and coalition forces is this: civilian casualties caused by coalition forces is almost always accidental, whereas the Taliban deliberately murder innocent people for reasons based upon their twisted ideology. No matter which way you cut it the Taliban are scumbags.

I would challenge anybody who defends the Taliban's actions to go to Afghan, meet up with some mujahideen and see what they do to you, the Taliban would be happy to get out their video cameras and sharpen their rusty knives. Yes there are pictures of coalition troops posing with dead bodies, which is wrong, but there countless videos online of people having their heads laboriously hacked off by the Taliban(with Arabic music in the background), go figure.

This last comment is a perfect example of the global schizophrenia dealing with the middle east. Just how many "little girls" has Obama killed? Perhaps 80? How many non-combatant men, women and children has Obama killed? Maybe 900?

Just who are the resistance fighting to expel invaders and who are the real "bad guys"?

Your statement reflects the ignorance of propriety.

The Taliban are "resistance fighters"? Yeah right. If they are then why are the local Afghan's terrified of them?

Last I heard, Afghans were bombing and shooting coalition forces including the ones we have trained, not the taliban.
