Is this true?

Please tell me no.

This is extortion at it's finest, amid international criticism of their expanded settlements, they do this...

Israel's high court on Wednesday ordered 21 Palestinians to pay 52,500 shekels to delay the demolition of their homes in the northern West Bank, a Palestinian Authority official said.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activity, told Ma'an the homeowners, from Yatma, were ordered to pay 2,500 shekels to the court by Friday to delay demolition while the court considers their case.

www.maannews.net...

Not only will they demolish your home, but will make you pay money for the delay

Some people may consider this "normal court proceedings" but I disagree and believe that this is blatant violation of international law since the West Bank is still illegally occupied so therefore it should be illegal to charge the rightful citizens of that land ransom for extended stay in their own homes before they get bulldozed.

The government of Israel can no longer claim victim status and must be held accountable for their actions since they refuse to accept international law and various resolutions against them.

This looks like nothing more than more punishment for their recently successful UN bid that Israel swore there would be consequences for.

Israel are just a Mafia state, and this is just more proof of that.

Anyway, even if the Palestinians did pay up this extortion money, Israel would still knock them down, they only be paying for a delay in demolition.

How about a new international sanction a day until Israel stops being a land grabbing thief.

That's Israel for ya! Maybe they should just call it a "Property Tax" like we have in the good ole US? That way, no one would give a hoot when someone lost their home for not paying their taxes!! Other than a family not paying their morgage, there is no reason whatsoever for ANY government to throw people out of their legal domain...

Maybe, but not likely, given the source is a well known Palestinian propaganda outlet.

www.maannews.net...

Ma’an Network is the largest independent TV, radio and online media group in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. It also broadcasts regionally via the Ma’an-Mix satellite channel.

MNA was launched with generous funding from the Danish Representative Office to the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the Netherlands Representative Office to the PA, and Ma'an Network is deeply grateful to both offices for their support during MNA’s foundational period. Having established itself as the premier source of independent Palestinian news on the internet, Ma'an News Agency looks forward to serving the Palestinian and international communities for many years to come.

Got any legitimate corroborating sources?

The source is actually very accurate and well known for their reporting in the region.

What stories have they posted that are propaganda?

Surely there must be at least one that you can remember that you disagreed with?

The source of this information, Ghassan Daghlas, is well known for his exposure of Israeli land theft and should be considered worthy of looking into. I tried posting a link to a site where a lot of his reporting is archived but its not working so if you want just Google his name.

You won't find very many mainstream sources willing to cover what he discusses.

I'll take that as a NO to my question asking if you had a legitimate corroborating source, and will reserve any comments, until it can be confirmed as true.

You have not delegitimized the source so how is it not legitimate?

We should attack the content, not the source.

If you would like to hold judgement until you can prove these claims that is fine with me, but perhaps you should be trying to disprove them?

I never said it wasn't true, and I am not attacking the source. I'd like to see proof because the source is questionable. Being skeptical isn't a problem for you is it?

Israeli and Palestinian news sources often publish false "hearsay" reports. Maybe being willing to believe alone is enough for you and others, but for some people that simply isn't enough.

IF it is true, then this should be exposed, not just here, and through that one source, but everywhere available.

I'd like to join you and others in condemning an act such as this, but I need to know that it is true first.

I have found various sources claiming this to be true but they all link back to the original source in my OP but I do find it interesting that no one has spoken up to deny these claims as well. These are all Middle Eastern sites and some alternative news sites from Europe and North America. I will continue my search for more evidence of this being confirmed once I return.

To be honest this would not surprise me especially due to their recent rise in settlement expansion.

Kind of strong words don't you think? Since when did the Mafia drop down to Israels level?

This is probably true because the fee for appealing to Israeli high court while there is existing regional court decision is 2,894 NIS. For everyone. Jew,Arab or Martian. I am not a lawyer so i have no idea why it cannot be single case for all people from Yatma whose homes are supposed to be demolished, but must be individual appeals.

And Palestine should not exist too, i suppose? You know, Palestine was never Palestinian. It was always controlled by someone else.

Thank you for the insight since as an Israeli you can shed some light on the situation due to your first hand experience living in the region. What really confuses me though, is why the Israeli High Court has any jurisdiction whatsoever in the West Bank as it is Illegally occupied and the elected officials of that land (The Palestinian Authority) should be making these judgments, not the Israelis. But we already know it's a lost cause because Israel will continue with the illegal settlement construction and any other outrageous deeds they perform along the way should no longer surprise us as they continue to wipe Palestine off the map.

Once again I thank you for your insight, but I believe your logic is flawed, perhaps I am wrong and you can correct me.

I'm so confused, I thought they were the richest nation on this planet (rothchilds), And they're begging for money now? This has nothing to do with money, It's just a way to humilate the Palestinians further. Sadly the International Court is more blind than a greedy banker.
