that english translation of the mabus quatrain is utterly wrong.
On March 27, 2009, Mabus was nominated by President Obama as Secretary of the Department of the Navy.[18] He was sworn in on May 19, 2009,[19] and held a ceremonial swearing in at Washington Navy Yard on June 18, 2009 where he was re-sworn in by the Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.[20][21][22][23]

It was originally written in Old French
Mabus puis tost alors mourra, viendra,
De gens & bestes une horrible defaite:
Puis tout à coup la vengeance on verra,
Cent, main, soif, faim, quand courra la comete.
there are a few translations
“Mabus will soon die, then will come,
A horrible undoing of people and animals.
At once one will see vengeance,
One hundred powers, thirst, famine, when the comet will pass.
“Mabus will soon die, then will come.
A horrible slaughter of people and animals.
At once vengeance is revealed coming from a hundred lands.
Thirst, and famine when the comet will pass.”
Mabus then quickly at this time will commit (mass) murder, there will come
Upon men & beasts, one horrible fate;
Then one shall see a coup of vengeance upon all,
There is a great taking (of lives), thirst, anger, when the comet shall pass.”edit on 27-12-2012 by oneness86 because: (no reason given)
But that hasn’t dampened enthusiasm for what Astronomy Now is awkwardly calling “a once-in-a-civilisation’s-lifetime” event.

As it flares out of the distant Oort Cloud, the newly discovered comet C/2012 S1 (ISON) appears to be heading on a trajectory that could make for one of the most spectacular night-sky events in living memory.
Astronomers predict that the comet will pass just 1.16 million miles from the Sun as it swings around its perihelion, or closest approach. (This may seem like a lot, but remember—the Sun is big. If we were to scale the Sun down to the size of Earth, the comet would pass well within the orbits of dozens of satellites.)
Of course, comets have a habit of not living up to expectations. This one could be sucked into the Sun during its close approach, or not grow as much of a tail as astronomers hope.
