Ok so this time Dave Grohl has sunk to a new low. I know Kurt loved the Beatles, but this is just way below the bar. I mean Macca!? singing nirvana!? no way.

Do they really need the dollar that badly? ok maybe Krist does who knows?

Apparently at rehearsals Paul said: 'so you guys havent been playing together for a while' and somebody told him they were Nirvana and he said 'who!?' Jeez.

So there you have it kids Nirvana reform with Macca. Pointless, sad? It is to me.

I think Grohl should be put out of his misery, the sold out, has been, is confused n should be shot with the bullet that killed kurt. lol not really but yea u know what im saying.

Opinions welcome, argue away!

Oh edit to add its a charity gig at the mo, not a full tour, so I may be a bit out of line calling for grohl to be shot lol! No money making in it (apparently).

Well the one thing I will say is that I am pro raising money for the victims of hurricane Sandy. So that is good.

Couldnt they just have picked somebody that would make Nirvana fans happy!???

Not quite. From the article:

He [McCartney] told The Sun: “I didn’t really know who they were. They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said ‘Whoa? You guys haven’t played together for all that time?

“And somebody whispered to me ‘That’s Nirvana. You’re Kurt.’ I couldn’t believe it.”

I take that to mean he didn't initially realise who Grohl and Novoselic were but had indeed heard of Nirvana.

I really can't picture McCartney singing Smells Like Teen Spirit. Always good to see Grohl on drums though

Sure, raising charity cash is always good, but McCartney.... Pleeeeaaassee!

All Apologies to beatles fans but I think he;s likely to have an Aneurysm, Even In His Youth he was a Negative Creep. I guess Chris is just trying to Milk It.

Its all a load of hogwash mate, why would he be in the rehearsal room, if he didnt know exactly what he was doing? Macca dont get out of bed unless its a good reason, so its all baloney, surely.
I preferred my version of events. Makes macca look dumber, hey maybe im the next sorcha!!

I read that article, came back on ATS and by the time I wrote the thread my brain had perverted the truth slightly to make it more shocking

Well, at least one Macca fan is not going to like this and make a useless post on ATS about it.

It's brilliant, really. It could go either way. Personally I'd blow my brains out if I traveled to the future and discovered paul mcartney was filling in for me. But I've always thought The Beatles suck.

WAIT..... I think we've just stumbled across some sort of schrodinger's cat...

I'd rather see him on the new Queens of the Stone Age album.

Personally, I hope they have a new album release.

The author of the article has made a coming together of musicians into something salacious. The article says the former members of Nirvana and Sir Paul have been working on a new song in the studio and that is what they are going to play at the benefit. They aren't going to play any Nirvana songs. The title should have been more like: "Sir Paul McCartney will be backed by the former members of Nirvana at benefit"

McCartney is best known for his "silly love songs" but he does have the ability rock hard. His solo album Wild Life is a good example. There is an unreleased version of Helter Skelter that really cranks also.
I understand Sir Paul is quite old but remember the former members of Nirvana are aging too. I really hope the song is a hard rocking number and applaud them for getting together. I am sure it will be memorable.

From what I've understood they will only be playing one song and it won't be a Nirvana song, a new song, so can't really call it a "nirvana reformation" it's more like a mccartney playing with the remaining nirvana group members.

Also note that Grohl and McCartney have already played together on some occasions.

Grohl is still an excellent artist though, and does frequently make songs that could go with McCartney's "repertoire".

But it is a rip off calling this a reformation of Nirvana
