What local issues will you be voting on?

One of the things that gets overshadowed with a presidential election is the fact that you have to vote on local issues as well, in your state, in your county.

Even if you think it is not worth voting for a President, these local issues still deserve your attention.

I would be interested to hear what is on your ballot, what is controversial, and if you wish, what you are voting on and why.

For me it is prop 7. Gambling was legalized and casinos are being built. This is to allow more permits for more casinos.
The pro is that it will generate revenue for schools, the con is that it will favor one casino over another. Don't know how I am voting for that one yet.

I hope this thread gains traction as people do need to realize that all politics are local.

Ohio came entirely to late to the game concerning Casinos. I have always voted to allow them, but to little, to late. The states surrounding us have had them for ten years now or so.

I voted for the smoking ban in public buildings, but have since done a 180 as they are using that ban to enforce even more stringent measures. I guess I didn't think that one through to well.

I vote across the board, looking into candidates and their past performace and how much they stand their ground on things that they believe in.

If it's a toss-up, then where they stand on the 1st and 2nd Amendment makes up my mind.

I almost always vote against the local taxes and levies in my town. They rake in more than they need and blow a good chunk of it on wasteful things.

Thank you for responding Tdawg. I was really hoping to see what some of the issues are coming up for people across the states.

Good reason to pay attention to what is on the ballot. So you can research both sides of the issues and properly vote.

Yea the casino thing was a big debate here for a long, long time. Atlantic city was raking in all the money from surroudning states. PA legalized gambling a few years ago. I am wondering if all the states legalize it, if they won't receive nearly the money they expect because now all the states are divvying it up among themselves, instead of it going to all one location.

I certainly hope this doesn't mean that everyone is squabbling over the presidential election all over the board, but has no clue what is going on in their local jurisdiction.
