Most touching 2012 video has just been released !!!!

From the poster :

"We rescued this young eight months old calf early this week. Luckily the
report came in early in the morning and we were able to get there quick
before the mother was forced to leave by herders arriving to water
their cattle. It was a happy ending as we were able to reunite the calf
with her mother, Zombe." Amboseli Trust for Elephants

Time to save a baby Elephant
Time to save a baby Elephant
Time to save a baby Elephant

Humans and Animals can live together .. YES WE CAN
Can help each other
Can respect each other
and can work together in perfect harmony

The reunion with his parent was the most beautiful
we can conclude with :

and they lived a happy life together !

Thank you so much for sharing that. It's touching things like this that make coming back day after day worth it, even when other areas are not so uplifting at times. Elephants are known to be so intelligent, this video has several meanings to me...and Oh..but the best one of course..the baby gets home to Momma. (warm smile) You've made my night!

The other side...well, that breaks my heart. They are highly intelligent, so I have to figure their behavior is deliberate and meaningul as opposed to the "dumb" instinct behavior of most others....knowing that? She walked away. (sigh) She actually walked away with out much fight. I'd assumed she'd stay very close....but my God..she LEFT.

It breaks my heart because her Intelligence tells me that wasn't fear. It was resignation and acceptance that Humans had her outnumbered and powered....and she'd just go down as well if she fought for her own.. I don't know why, but I actually choke up a bit from that. Humans have done so damned much damage in every corner of the planet...even a mighty animal like this, who can likely reason, knows us well enough to know if those were poachers...she's seen her kid for the last time.

It makes the end all the MORE special, honestly. That was one happy Momma and Child.

Ahhhhh Ben81 that was so beautifull. Thank you for that gift. After a day in the 'mad world', being able to partake of that true joy reminds me of why it's all worth the fight.

Hey thanks for the share. I love seeing things like that. I've always liked elephants, and have a secret wish (well I guess not so much anymore) about one day owning a herd of miniphants. Any of you guys see that video where the elephant gets stuck and the rest try to help? I was going to be lazy but here.

First thing I thought when seeing that picture, "maybe it's an identity crisis, thinks he's a sloth."

Oh no OP - you aren't getting me this time.

I see these cutesy animal videos around here. And I used to bite. But by the fifth time someone showed up to my desk as tears streamed down my face from some cutesy-schmootsey animal-bonding-gone-awry video, I'm starting to smarten up.

I'll watch it when I get home and can sob my tears of relief and joy in the privacy of my own home.

Even in a big truck, I would be a little leary about pushing around a mother elephant.

Sitting at my desk bawling like a baby.....

Incredible video. And to watch the mother and baby run to each other at the end....ahhhhhh.

Animals have emotions. This video proves it. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the post! I have always had an affinity for these beautiful creatures, my apartment is littered with many different figurines and paintings. Did you know elephants can paint pictures? I believe they have a consciousness that is very similar to our own, at least on some level.

My dream would be to become an elephant keeper, you basically live with an elephant for the course of its adolescence until it has matured. The young ones get attached easy, so instead of looking over just one elephant you rotate between a good number of them. The reason we have "keepers" is because so many young ones are left without a mother due to poaching.
