If history repeates itself, then perhaps nature and evolution do as well. The current state of the world is dominated by human culture and civilization. If civilization is like the life on the plains at 5 million B.C. Then the move off the grid would be like an ape seeking refuge in the river or lake. Evolution continues.

Aquatic ape theory gives evolution a chance to change the primte body gradually. A primate on the plain has to hit the ground running with each of his new mutations. A primate living in the water simply has to stay in the water until his species can move as fast on dry ground as the regular dry ground animals. Water has no big mammalian predators and all prey animals come to it to drink at some time or another. Walking may have been neccessary at first to get from one overpopulated or drying up water habitat to another. The ones who had the feet and hips could walk away.

The change from a simian type of body arrangement to a Homo phenotype involed changes to bone shape and structure and muscle attatchments. These changes could be survived much more often in the water environment. In the water the foot would have been used for swimming or standing upright rather that gripping. The widening of the female hips, required by the larger and larger brains and heads of the evolving off spring, could have proceeded with out the need for a female to walk or run fast every generation. The bouyancy of the head in water also facilitated the repositioning of the spinal cord to the bottom of the skull. All other animals have the spinal-cord-into-brain junction at the rear of the skull. The water favors an up right posture while at the same time relieving the weight put onto evolving feet, hips and spinal cord.

Normally only the head is always out of the water exposed to teh elements, which is the only surface of the body that still has a covering of hair. Paracites are more easily gotten rid of on a body with no hair. Movement trough the water is easier whithout hair. Breath control would allow a hunter to approach a drinking prey animal from under the surface of the water, out of sight. More emphasis toward voluntary breath control, a prerequisite of speech, is caused by a water habitat.

Perhaps the Neandertal alone evolved completely on land, or was forced or enticed to leave the water earlier than Sapiens. That would explain its greater stregth and reputation for easily broken bones. It had to move on mutated limbs, making it desperate and reckless, and the newly mutated bones were still finding their long term genes. That would also imply that there is more that one way to evole into a higher form.

Quntum leap follows-- brace for light speed.

Civilization causes specialization. Continued on for million of years, each special niche in the economy would lead to a different speicies of Homo, with a variety something akin to the variety of insects. Among the insects are the colony insects; ants, bees, and termites.

Nature and evolution are different now than they were. Man's intellect will alter and eventually overtake nature as the single most important fact about evolution. Man can decide how evolution will go. Right now, however, there are people who decide for everybody and they will tend to favor the colony insect version of the future. Brave New World and 1984 are societies that would become the colony insect model in some geological amount of time. Brave New World and 1984 are the only visions of the future written by social scientists, or in other words, the one who advise the one who control us now.

The only alternative is to live with civilization's art and knowledge, but to avoid its control.

If history repeates itself, then perhaps nature and evolution do as well. The current state of the world is dominated by human culture and civilization. If civilization is like the life on the plains at 5 million B.C. Then the move off the grid would be like an ape seeking refuge in the river or lake. Evolution continues.

Great thread,btw.

Yes,homo sapiens have survived because of they're adaptability.

We became pretty much top of the food chain because of that, and more.
We won,but at a cost.
Eventually we will implode and destroy ourselves.
Then the next smartest creature will fill in the space we occupied and life will go on.
