As we all do, I see/hear/read a lot about how the GOP is anti-women...yet, there are a lot of women that favor the GOP. I've heard it all from Republicans are afraid of vaginas to Democrats use women as tools..

Personally, I don't think...and I know I'll hear about it from many here at ATS...that EITHER party really cares abouw women's issues. I think they just want to say what they think women want to hear, (as best as they can cobble it into the framework of party ideology), and hope for the best on election day.

What do you folks think?

The GOP do not have a Hate on for just women.

Unless you are a Filthy Rich White Man, They have a Hate on for everyone else.

I agree, except I don't think it's just the issue of women, I don't think either party really cares about anyone. I believe they will say whatever they feel needs to be said to get the job done if you will. Maybe I've just become cynical but I tend to not believe any of it anymore.

I think that the Democrats take for granted the female and minority vote...

On the other hand I think the GOP is using something like a playbook from the era of MadMen (the AMC TV Show set in the early 1960's) to try to sway women and minorities.

Why do people always make it about the politicians in the parties? And not the average citizen in the party? There is a huge difference between the two.

Both the republican politicians and fan-base really could careless about any sort of "minority" groups struggles. Their target audience is middle and baby boomer aged white men.

Sen. Lindsey Graham Says Republicans ‘Not Generating Enough Angry White Guys’

“The demographics race we’re losing badly [sic],” the senior senator from South Carolina explained. “We’re not generating enough angry white guys to stay in business for the long term.”

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Even republicans on ATS could care less about things like women being paid less than men go "who cares, life's not fair". Then they go make a thread about how men are oppressed and cry.

What, exactly, are you saying? I'm sorry...I don't quite understand you.

My question is about party leadership...which would be the Politicians. Does the average Repub. or Dem. feel the same way as Obama or Romney? No, I'm sure they don't...but I'm asking generalities. I shouldn't assume that everyone is on the same page as me though. My apologies.

Besides...I could make a post about what I think ad nauseum....but I don't get 24/7 news coverage. So its about the party leaders since it is a common denominator.

It's complicated. And yes, I'm a woman, registered as a Republican. The upper tier doesn't give a tinker's damn about being anything more than politicians. But a few tiers down, there are reasons why these people are in their respective parties.

1. When it comes to women-bashing, women do it best. Seriously, guys give up on the cattiness fare more quickly than most women do. So, it's not surprising to hear women bashing other women as not being woman enough for being a part of a different ideology--if they're really that different. Both sides do this, which is no surprise.

2. Women have been fed horseploppy since the '60s. Their entering the workforce has not increased the overall family income, in the long term (inflation). Especially when you start to take into consideration the conveniences we have to buy just to keep up with family and work (washing machines, blenders, microwaves, etc, all less necessary when you stay home all day long--yes, a blessed convenience I don't want to do without) Kids do not get enough of their parents when both work--latch-key kids? Homework is best done right after school, when everyone is not tired and cranky--and kids can't get your help when you don't come home at night due to your job. It doesn't happen. And a whole bunch of other stuff! And I'm by no means saying women should stay home barefoot, pregnant, in the kitchen. But what it has led to is women telling themselves that they can do this all, as a super-woman. It leads to bashing those that break when they can't. And then there's the divorces that are caused by this type of stress. Heck, I like working, but I don't like being forced into the position where I have to worry about a job ruining my family relationship. (My mom's still sad that she can say that her baby was raised by me and the dog...and not really be joking all that much. ) It's a damned shame, people, that we confuse conservative viewpoints with being anti-woman. Someone should have the right to stay home with the kids, and a lot of times it's not affordable. And not every woman sees this being fixed by one party or the other.

3. While there are a lot of women who are sexually secure, there is a line that many of them won't cross, when they have kids that look up to them, when they have a husband that they want as their equal, and not under their feet. When you have a bunch of crazy middle aged women dress up as female genitalia, there's just as many or more women out there that are outright revolted. To flaunt that way just shuts them down to that cause--uptight or not! I mean, when I was a kid there was the Right to Life chain in, what, September? The local pediatrician used to counter protest by driving around town with coat-hangers and other pro-abortion material all over her car. It disturbed people.

This could go on, but it's a good enough place to stop.

What republican party politicians say and do are two different things. The fan base tends to agree with the things they say. Like the Tea Party is supposed to be about small government, but their leaders vote for the NDAA and CISPA.

But the reality is Republicans could careless about any sort of civil rights issue. They constantly vote to illegality abortion, vote no for equal pay, say things like "real rape", "honest rape", "forced rape" while blaming the victim. Republicans have a regressive mindset, they want to return to 1950's America.

Senate GOP blocks Democrats' equal pay for women bill

WASHINGTON — A bill that would pave the way for women to more easily litigate their way to pay equality failed to clear a procedural hurdle in the Senate on Tuesday as Republicans united against the measure for the second time in two years.

www.nytimes.com...

Originally approved in 1994, the act brought about the expansion of community prevention programs, support for shelters and rape crisis centers, support for domestic violence victims in minority populations, and much more. The act was renewed and expanded in 2000 (notably it proffered assistance to victims of stalking and dating violence) and then again in 2005. The latest version of this bill extends protection to same-sex couples, Native American women, and undocumented immigrants.

Believe it or not, there are still women who are concerned about more things than getting abortions. Also population control is at the deeper root of the Democrats need to push abortion and contraception. How do I know tthat? Because the Obama administration appointed John Holdren as science czar, a man who wrote a book suggesting that population is growing so fast that the best way to deal with it is to mass medicate an entire population without their consent or knowledge to sterilize them. That is nothing less than diabolical in my humble opinion.
I would go so far as to say that a republican by the name of Nixon played right into the depopulation agenda by enabling federal funding of abortions indirectly through funding to Planned Parenthood. As we know, Planned Parenthood is the renamed American Birth Control League founded by Margaret Sanger and funded by none other than Rockefeller.

Snowe and Collins.....mmmhmmmm they both vote with the Democrats usually and both voted for Obamacare. In fact they were the only Republicans who voted for it I believe. I wouldn't mind if both of them switched parties just like Arlen Specter did. Tea party calls these people RINOS....that is Republican in name only.

Ha, it looks like Snowe has already quit the GOP Senate to protest. See what I mean? RINO

The Maine moderate’s resignation comes amid a GOP move to push back against what they consider big government trampling on religious freedom, an effort she planned to vote against. But she had long grown ‘sick and tired’ of partisanship, colleagues said.

Spoke I have watched you post thread after thread after thread of hateful ^%$) against Repubicans and the GOP and you find the most miserable statements and post them here as if those people represent all Republicans. I could post thread after thread of nasty miserable Democrats too. You and I must have a serious disagreement about political policy and economics. I think you hate white people too. Just my observance.
Yes Snowe and Collins do not represent real Republican women in my view.

Would you care to give me a definition of misogyny? The Democrats really pulled a fast one, telling the world Republicans hate women.
I just think you are misled, but you are misled because there is something deep down inside of you that you are attached to the sick world of the Nanny State and the sick ideas the radicals have been presenting.
Nothing compares to the sick hatred of life and women than a doctor with a knife in his hand. It is death incarnate, and you sit here and tell me that it's the Republicans who are misogynist.
Did you know that the original feminist, Betty Friedan who wrote, "The Feminine Mystique" was a communist through and through?
The radical feminist movement had it's moorings in the Communist Party. Yes that's right it was all to recruit women into the cause of communism.

Revelation 12
The Woman and the Dragon

12 A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. 2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. 4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.”[a] And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. 6 The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.
7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:

“Now have come the salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Messiah.
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,
who accuses them before our God day and night,
has been hurled down.
11 They triumphed over him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death.
12 Therefore rejoice, you heavens
and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea,
because the devil has gone down to you!
He is filled with fury,
because he knows that his time is short.”

13 When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. 14 The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent’s reach. 15 Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent. 16 But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.

Be careful what energy you may project upon those who consider themelves advocates of the innocent unborn.

For as Jesus said, every jot and tittle of the law must be fulfilled. So let it be that the projection of those who hate the woman and her seed will fall back upon itself.

You spew hate for democrats, socialists, and communists. So why are you crying? And no, they don't represent all republicans, just a large portion.

I think you hate white people too. Just my observance.

LOL. All of my racial posts are anti-racist. I guess if I talk about social issues involving non-whites that makes me racist. You're just mad because I call out the racism in the republican party. Clearly a portion of republicans agree with it, these people keep getting elected.

Would you care to give me a definition of misogyny?

An extreme apathy for women. The technical definition is hate, but most people do not hate women.

you are attached to the sick world of the Nanny State and the sick ideas the radicals have been presenting.

Nope. I hate nanny states. Drugs, prostitution and all victimless crimes should not be illegal.

Did you know that the original feminist, Betty Friedan who wrote, "The Feminine Mystique" was a communist through and through?

I don't get your point. Are you trying to insinuate that only capitalists can have good ideas and philosophies? It doesn't surprise that someone wanting equality would be communist, equality is the core idea in communism. I've read Marx, you clearly haven't.

Yes that's right it was all to recruit women into the cause of communism.

Sure. Or maybe women were sick and tired of being treated as lesser beings.

So before you open your mouth again and let the ugly worms and bugs and bats and horrid creatures of the dark underworld pour out again

It's your right and privelege to think that however wrong and unscientific you may be.

You have a huge chip on your shoulder and I know I'm not the only person to observe it. No wonder you support the race warfare of this administration.

Sandra Fluke does indeed have connections with known communists, such as Van Jones. She has connections with Anita Dunn, the woman who gushed over Mao to graduating students. She has a socialist boyfriend and jet sets to exotic places.
And you are sitting here vomiting out the disgusting agenda of these people.

I'm done with this.

Clearly I have read Marx and clearly either you don't understand what you are reading or you don't recognize it where it manifests around you. Or you agree with it and don't want to admit the whole Obama thing is nothing but Marxism through and through.

You say you hate the Nanny State but here you are defending Sandra Fluke's nanny state radical feminist agenda.

I don't think that all Republicans are misogynists - in fact I know they're not

But there is a reason you're here asking the question

You think both parties are only out for the vote - and they'll do whatever it takes to win...so, by default the Democrats must be hypocrites

:-)

What's the point you're actually trying to make?

That the Republicans are at least not hypocritical?

Do I also have a huge chip on my shoulder?

The radical feminist movement had it's moorings in the Communist Party. Yes that's right it was all to recruit women into the cause of communism.

Because woman are so easily recruited? Because - without communism none of this would have ever happened? Because - we didn't know how good we had it before? And - now look what we've done - if we had only stayed barefoot and pregnant and at home we'd all be so much better off now...

Ah - to live in your simple, simple world

:-)

You do understand ThirdEye - not all feminists are women. Feminists - true feminists - are just people that believe that all people should be treated equally - including women

There is not one group on this planet trying to gain equality that could have achieved that goal by themselves

We're all in this together - though, I dare say - some of us seem to believe otherwise

Power to the People ThirdEye
