California going off!

I understand there are eq's in cali everyday, but it seems that there are a whole bunch in southern cali today that are one after the other. Could this be the build up of something big happening or is this what the earth does to prevent a larger quake from ripping the place in two?

I have been watching this closely too. It's been very active today, for sure!

The possibility is there and here to cause the San Andreas to slip but then there is talk of volcanic activity too so I have no idea. Just researching the different theories.

I would say there has been over sixty so far since the swarm began over an hour ago.

I've been watching the last few hours too.
I am used to keeping an eye on them, out of worry for relative in Cali., so I know EQ's are a fairly daily occurance there..... but this swarm is uncommon!

Very worrisome. With the uncertainty of Hurricane Isaac - where it is going and how strong it is actually going to get - I would say there is a lot of "natural" (?) action going on right now. Coinciding with the RNC as well.

Read another post last night talking about the sink holes and potential gas being released in NOLA. Wake up this morning and track for Isaac has been moved West. Same thing I believe that happened with Katrina.

I keep getting the impression that Mother Earth is throwing somewhat of a tantrum right now as far as North America is concerned. Whether or not she was "provoked" or not I don't know but if we have massive emergencies in CA and all along the Gulf of Mexico at the same time...

Those Cayce and Navy "new" (prediction) maps... Anyone know the date on those? I actually feel really silly asking that question but there are an awful lot of coincidences right now.

Also... there was a date I have heard mentioned that was really the ending date of the Mayan long count calendar (after adjusting for our 365 day years). Does anyone know what that date is?

I personally have never thought December 21, 2012 would be the true end of the world - more of a big change / shift of some kind. I still don't. But today has all kinds of natural disaster scenarios running through my mind. Especially since I am sitting here in the line of fire from Isaac and hadn't planned on going anywhere else.

Oh boy.....Not liking the way this looks. I have many friends and family in Cali, including my youngest daughter who just moved to San Diego three weeks ago. The large ones out in the desert of the Imperial Valley are a bit worrisome, it's not a typical place for quakes.

Yes, Cali rattles daily, but this swarm indicates that a big quake is due....if not in Cali proper, then somewhere else on the planet. You can't have this activity without a build-up and release of tectonic tension, somewhere. Let's hope wherever it is, the large quake hits in a sparsely-populated area.

I have never seen so many hit in one area in such a short period of time.

There may be that many but they are all scattered around the world.

Anyone notice there are very few anyplace else in the world? That seems very strange.

Yes it is. I am from Brawley,CA there is a fault line you can walk along right thru the middle of Brawley I use to live right off it.. I have felt MANY EQ's when I lived there .. when I was small I remember having to hold on to the stove in the middle of the room so as NOT to get flung across the room.. I was there in the big one in the 70's also.. so not unusual just I DO NOT REMEMBER every having this many this long. It was one then done..

I noticed almost all are in Brawley. I googled Brawley, but other than having a very dirty river and being below sea level, I got nothing else.

I hope to God in Heaven they have San Onofre shut down and going cold or ready to on little to no notice with a steadily building quake swarm. Japan started this way too.....It doesn't take a Tsunami to make a disaster.

@WTF is going on out there?? I just looked at the Depths and unless the USGS is going nuts, these are originating all over the place. Any experts on to give some idea what that means? I just screen cap'ed multiple screens..non-stop screens...of this swarm. I've not seen anything quite like this in Cali?
