I'm at work on my lunch break and I noticed a box of "Cheez-It Extra Cheddar Party Mix" sitting on my co-workers desk, so I decided to check out the ingredients... and here is what I have found. The red boxes in the picture below indicate what I know to be ingredients containing Genetically Modified Organisms(GMOs) because over 90% of soy and cotton crops are GMO crops. There is a very good chance that the corn ingredients are also GMO, because 85% of all corn crops in the US are GMO. The dairy ingredients probably also contain GMOs depending on what the cow ate, not to mention the hormones cows are treated with sometimes. TBHQ is also boxed in red, and it is a petroleum product similar to butane. Food coloring dyes yellow #5 and yellow #6 are thought to be cancer causing and have been banned in some countries. These dyes also cause many disorders, mainly in children. The moral of the story is just because the FDA says it is safe to eat doesn't mean that it is. This stuff is literally poison. This is just one box of crackers... imagine what else you are eating everyday, and imagine what you are feeding your kids. This is why my family has switched to all natural and organic food, because we want to live past 60. Pay attention to the ingredients in your food!!!!!!

I'm a die-hard label-reader. If something has more than 6 ingredients, be suspicious!

And it surprises you to learn that you're being slowly killed off?
Agenda 21, hello?

I'm not surprised... I have known this for quite sometime, and switched to Organic quite a while back. I only want to open other people's eyes to this truth, and the best way is to use real examples of food products that everyone eats without even thinking about the ingredients.

So am I... if I can't pronounce it I don't eat it. If I have to shop at a regular grocery store, it takes me hours because I read EVERY label. I usually shop at Trader Joe's or Harris Teeter.

I'm seeing a lot of soy here...is there a problem with that?

My buddy is a culinary genius (or pretty close to it) and very health aware. He still uses soy. What's the problem?

On this issue...I sound like a broken record to my friends and family. I am frequently preaching....buy fresh organic foods and eat at home! It is much cheaper to eat at home and you have control over the ingredients.

Pay attention very closely to the ingredients...and don't eat empty calories. Some listen...some don't.

There is an old saying...."You are what you eat" and it is so true.

Sometimes I think the junk food companies and the medical profession have a secret pact. Eat all that overly processed food that has very little if any nutritional value over a period of time; and you are sure to become ill and have to see a Doctor.

Too much soy actually produces estrogen in Men, and even though soy does have health benefits, over 90% of soy is genetically modified, and GMO food has been shown to cause sterillity and organ failure, among other problems, in rats and mice. GMOs probably won't effect you, but it may effect your kids and certainly your grandkids.

I have thought for a while that they do indeed have a pact... the food companies get us sick, and Big Pharma is there to treat our sickness. They won't cure it because there is no longterm profit in that.

Does it really amaze you? It's junk food.

If GMO scares you then yes you have a reason to be scared. Some of us, not even slightly scared.

Yeah, and if you eat a car full of chocolate, you COULD get cancer.

There's a huge difference between possibility and probability. Jumping at shadows, kiddies. You start looking for enemies, you'll see them everywhere...whether or not they actually exist.

The Horror!

It's a good thing you don't eat that crap and instead eat Perfect Life Immortality Crackers, right? Right?

We're all gonna die eventually. I'm not going to live my life in fear of cheese crackers.

That's about what I was trying to say. I'm surprised these people aren't afraid of accidentally suffocating themselves with their sheets at night.

Because it could happen, you know.

I'm stocking up on natural seeds. Will be good currency in the future.
Started a small garden too, just to learn how to deal with vegetables.
Hard to find proper edible food anymore. Everything has 25 ingredients.

Soy lecithin isn't bad for you. It's plant-based and is used as an emulsifier in many products. Gives things a nice texture too.

Did I say that I was scared? No, because as I mentioned, I eat organic food. I am putting information out for others, using an everyday product as an example. It isn't only in junk food, in fact, most of the food that is marketed as Diet food or weight loss food contains GMOs as well, like Weight Watcher's Smart Ones.

If you stay away from it, it must be because you are afraid of it.

Information based on incomplete data.

I'm sure of it but you specified a product that is popularly recognized as junk food.
