Sergeant Lyle Waterworth of the Jonesboro police department, stated that Carter was “handcuffed, double locked and searched” for weapons. Still, the officer claims, Carter managed to shoot himself in the head after a “thump” was heard from the back of the squad car.

Carter’s mother, Teresa, isn’t buying the story. First, she claimed that her son was searched twice. She said that he was left-handed, but was shot in the right temple. She also said that he had called his girlfriend after he got pulled over and told her he’d call her from jail. She believes her son was killed.

Silly cop. Don't you know you're supposed to unlock the handcuffs and plant a gun on the "suicide" victim, after you shoot them in the head?

Question: So how did Carter end up dead? Police allege that they must have missed a gun Carter had in his possession during the search, thus allowing him to shoot himself in the head. Yes, you read right, police allege that a handcuffed man in the back of a squad car shot himself in the head. Officers say they heard a "thump", then turned and realized that Carter had shot himself in the head. If a man (for whatever reason), get's arrested, is placed in cuffs (double locked), searched for weapons, and then placed in the back of a police squad car, is then shot in the head by the police officer, is it murder? Or will this somehow be justified as just the officer doing his duty? Or do we just accept this farce of a story, because the suspect looked like a gangbanger?

You and I don't agree on much (based on past threads/posting), but I am with you 100% on this matter.

This was cold blooded murder, pure and simple. I posted the article on my FB page earlier this evening to... surprise... no responses.

Why are people acting like things like this don't happen? When are we, as a nation, going to 'wake up' and hold our elected and hired officials to a higher standard?

This 'officer' should be arrested and tried for murder, period.

Can't wait for the apologists to turn up and downplay/damage control this story.

Such a tragedy cops can say something like this and will probably get away with it and it's not like the MSM will cover this story either. I doubt any honest CSI level forensics will take place either, bullet trajectory, fingerprints etc.

People need to hear this story. I am all for good, lawful police doing their jobs. Murder has no place... NO PLACE... in our society. At all.

I am so sorry to hear this, that poor life and the tragic existence left for the mother to suffer. He looked like a pot smoker (big deal) not some dangerous crack head.

Uhh... Like a previous poster said. The OP and I haven't always seen eye to eye but they have to be kidding with this load of hooey. If this happened that way then the suspect has a very clear and identifiable line of residue right along the track of this magic friggen bullet right?

That is a trick to end all tricks right there, let me tell you. Imagine, a gun in handcuffed hands being maneuvered around with little or no visibility to it by nature of physics here.....coming from where? His butt?? Oh.. Don't laugh, it's not unheard of....and so physical evidence should confirm THAT too right? .....and all this, he shoots himself a perfect kill shot to the temple.

Okay... It COULD happen...just like the Magic bullet in Dallas COULD have done all it "did" too. This cop just flat out, out thought himself. I won't comment on the Dateline for the story or the ease by which I think that little feat was accomplished. Murder is Murder...and this sucks.

Well if this guy is good enough to materialize a handgun out of his a** after a police patdown, then he was probably good enough to suicide himself with only one shot to the head with his hands cuffed behind his back. Some people have mad skillz.

This is all so stupid. If his hands were behind him, it is physically impossible. On the other hand, what WERE the cops thinking if they shot him? Did they think no one would notice or just take their word? Do they not know that a suicide by a handcuffed man who is in the back of a police car is a pretty suspicious story?

Obviously an investigation will be done(obviously?). The forensics investigation should be quite the story.

So what are you going to do about this? What are the people going to do? You need to stand up and riot if that's what it takes to bring these pigs down. Seriously, put your hands behind your back as if you would be handcuffed. Its impossible to move your body that way.

Of course they are.
Kissinger supposedly boasted that he would have us begging for UN intervention.

Begging for an end to this evil regime.

What exactly should we do here? I mean, we have system in place that handles murders so that we don't have to march up and down streets to demand justice. Sometimes it doesn't work, sure. But lets let it get to that point before we personally take up the cause. As we have always done when we feel justice has not been served.
