Never seen that before kinda cool. I wonder what kind of emergency would need to take place for them to send a real situation to pretty much everybody with a cell phone. Nuclear bomb type things?

Yes I did.

My town sends us text messages and/or calls for emergencies such as fires or police situations. For example last summer I got one for a huge fire near my house and a few weeks back I got one because there was a police standoff with a neighbor of mine across the street.

This one I just got is totally different and I have no clue where it came from
I guess basic 911 service thru the provider?

I definitely didn't get one. Was it local to you, or your wireless provider?

I mean, if there's a real problem how many people would get something like that?

It was a "this is just a test"......just like you would hear/see on TV....

I use Verizon wireless and it was on my cell....not sure if that matters.

Test.

No test here. Would guess it would have to be local as there would have most likely been a national/global announcement had there been a test on that scale.

I didn't. Curious, I wonder if those who did all have the same carrier. Very interesting. Since I don't own a t.v. and i never listen to the radio, this would be one i would be more likely to get.

I am not in the same state as the OP so it is not "local".....maybe we have the same wireless provider

*shrug*

I have Verizon as well and did not get one. However I am in Ca. I wonder if it was just certain areas of the country. It may not be limited to a certain state but more general like the east coast or north west.

My phone was on that list so it is definitely area based.

I just wanted to wish you, the survivors, in what surely will be the greatest horror the world has ever seen, much success. I know you are genetically resistant to what is about to unfold before your eyes in a terrifying display of sheer biological unbelievability but I do wish you much fortitude. I think you will also need it. The mutated bird, swine, cow, flu flu (a double barrelled mix) has been released as we speak. God help the survivors, we Salute You!....gurgle...cough...cough...

Hey. It could happen! I think I am what they call irreverent, not to mention I don't have me no new fangled mow-bile foan, no sirree.

ETA I will be that curiously embarrassing charcoaled remains of the guy with his finger up his nose or scratching his arse with precision. Ah yes...the simple things in life are often the best. Obviously in the privacy of one's own home.
