A hacker group by the name of Lords of Dharamraja has allegedly found the source code of many handsets on servers that belong to the Indian military. It is part of a platform called RINOA SUR that was used to eavesdrop on the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission. The RINOA acronym is supposed to stand for RIm NOkia Apple. I can only assume that if they Indian government has this kind of tech at its disposal it won't limit its use to spying on just one group. I can also only assume that India isn't the only country who can do this or have this kind of agreement with handset makers. So much for Blackberries being the gold standard in private communication.

most countries have agreements with the big phone companies to have access to the servers used to send/recieve messages but some countries wanted the ability to almost surf and look for information so rather than get their handsets banned fromt hose countries like RiM they just setup some indian servers on indian soil so they can access what they want when they want according to indian law
