From KVUE:

Michele Bachmann speaks from Iowa after canceling her trip to South Carolina and coming in sixth place during the Iowa caucuses Tuesday night.

A GOP source close to the candidate says Bachmann plans to suspend her campaign for the presidency.

CNN:

Source says Michele Bachmann to announce she's suspending her campaign for president. Briefing at 11 a.m. eastern time, 10 a.m. central time.

It appears Mrs. Bachmann will likely be terminating her run for the White House today. I can't honestly say I'm sad despite it being handy to have her pulling some votes from a few of the other non-Romneys. Fare thee well, Mrs. Bachmann.

Appears likely we'll also be getting a similar update from the Perry campaign soon, as well - he's cancelled his South Carolina appearances and is heading home:
After disappointing Iowa finish, Perry returns to Texas to "assess" future of campaign:

After a disappointing fifth place finish in the Iowa caucuses Tuesday night, Gov. Rick Perry announced that he will return to his home state to assess the future of a campaign that remained stalled for months despite prolific ad spending and a frenzied eleventh hour bus tour in the Hawkeye State.

"With the voters' decision tonight in Iowa, I decided to return to Texas, assess the results of tonight's caucus, determine whether there is a path forward for myself in this race," Perry told several hundred supporters gathered in the West Des Moines hotel that served as the team's nerve center this week.

Nice to clear the field a little bit, at least.

UPDATE:
Bachmann's campaign has been suspended:

West Des Moines, Iowa – U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota announced Wednesday she is suspending her presidential campaign following a disappointing sixth-place showing in the Iowa Republican caucuses Tuesday.

“Last night, the people of Iowa spoke with a very clear voice. So I have decided to stand aside,” Bachmann told reporters at a news conference here.

"I have no regrets," she said, with her husband at her side. "None whatsoever. We never compromised our principles... We made a very important contribution to this race."

I'm not sorry to see her leave. I hoped she wouldn't be a viable candidate (I don't like her extremism) and will be glad to see her gone from the race. I am kind of hoping that Rick Perry stays in for another round -- long enough to embarrass the Republicans of Texas to NOT elect him governor again.

Well, I suppose when key members of her own staff betray her and burn her campaign confidence to the ground on their way out, there remains only one question for this Candidate.

How's that re-election campaign coming Michelle? It appears to be all you'll need to focus on for the coming year.

Oh goodness, I wish these people would make up their minds...I honestly don't see why Perry would drop out yet, anyway. He's only of...what, only 3?...with any real campaign funds:

"We have been told to hold until we hear from Austin," said a Perry source in South Carolina, where the candidate was preparing to launch an aggressive statewide bus tour on Wednesday. "It looks like he is not coming this week. He has definitely canceled his plans."

I did hear awhile back about someone funding a Gingrich PAC to the tune of $20 million, if I recall - but I guess if that's not going right into the campaign it doesn't help much.

I'm so happy to see this hateful religious extremist being rejected by the American people. I'm watching her speech at the moment and I swear if I hear her contradict herself or say "socialism" one more time my head will explode.

She's out!

I'm glad, she was getting pretty annoying fear mongering and continuously repeating how dangerous peace is.
Thats woman's not right.

Well, it's about time the plasticine Mrs. Bachmann gives it up and goes home. Her and her husband's "Gay Cure" clinic are a joke. Cry me a river...NOT.

It is also time for the wooden-headed Mr. Perry to get his sorry self back here to Texas as well. There is something seriously wrong with him. I think he has substance abuse problems, and his angry, vindictive self couldn't be hidden, although they tried to coach him, and for one speech, he got good and plastered to try and be more jovial, but nice try, no cigar.

Now, let's have the good news that ol' Newt has left the campaign trail as well. Last night during the Iowa caucus dog-and-pony-show, he gave a speech prattling on and on about how dangerous Iran would be with a nuclear weapon. What a buffoon. Still showing his loyalty to "foreign interests" instead of concentrating on his own country. I could almost see AIPAC hands stuffing money into his pockets. He disgusts me.

Now, this morning, I am stuck listening to the Bloomberg channel talking non-stop about last night's caucus, because my husband day-trades and insists on having that channel on while he trades. I asked him why a financial channel is making such a fuss over last night's circus, and he said the most likely answer is that they are not wanting to discuss a financial meltdown most assuredly happening in Europe's banking sector.

As Harry Truman said, in regards to politics, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." I not only want to get away from the kitchen, I want to move out of the house and burn it down for the insurance money. Ugh, American politics has become something I just can't stomach.

Hateful religious extremist? What's hateful in taking your courage of conviction as far as possible?
You're exactly why she needs to continue to fight for religious freedom.

What she said about obamacare is correct, it is a playground for the far left to enslave future generations into socialism.

I hope you have enough sense to change the channel before you explode.

Whats so sad is that she would have actually had a chance if she just stuck with the constitution. She actually had my vote with Paul until she supported the Patriot act. And then from there it was just anti gay and pro war crap. The woman had a chance but she had to sell out. Now shes out completely.

I agree with a lot of what you said but I don't know if she sold out... I feel she was pretty transparent, regardless if I agreed or not. I think she was more honest with her intentions than most, lol...

Serious question: Since 'Obamacare' was drafted and approved by a panel made up of insurance and healthcare industry lobbyists before it ever made it to the floor of the legislature, is the entire industry made up of closet socialists? I'm curious, because given the exclusionary nature of the for-profit system, they've masked it pretty well thus far.

I don't know a single true democrat that thinks Obamacare is anything other than a steaming pile of corporatist dung, and most who have actually read and understand the bill would say that it's probably more right-leaning than if George W. Bush had put it together. Sometimes I wonder if people like you are just really effective trolls, because I'd like to believe that, in this day and age, people would have a better grasp on basic definitions of 'left' and 'right' and things like 'socialism.'

I have to agree here. This campaign is largely defined by one thing that is being taken to entirely new heights. She was a fine example of it, and still is...right to the end. It seems the new tactics are 100% attack...hate....be ugly about everyone else. Never stop and tout your own greatness and what GOOD things would come from election...but just dump on and ridicule everyone ELSE so the final winner is a matter of default choice for lack of anything else.

Good Riddens Michelle.... I had hopes for this one, way back when...but she let her inner self show through just enough to see she's a very dark and ugly woman inside.

Good! She is a nutjob.

And Perry is a slimy, dirty politician - I can say this with authority because he is from my home town & I know all his family.

Neither of them will be missed by me! Onward!

No one, even the democrats know everything that is in obamacare. Do you?
If it's so why do they (the left) support "corporatist dung"?

Obamacare mutates to serve the greedy when needed.

Do you think it's ok for government to force us to buy a product? I agree with Michelle Bachmann when it comes to obamacare.

Is mandating us to buy a product not socialistic?

Uhm, what is a "true democrat" ?

She's a religious extremist because she intended to mix her religious convictions with her political power, enforcing her religious beliefs onto others.

Her husband runs a truly messed up "Gay Cure" clinic. Despite the fact that he is one of the campest men I think I have ever seen! Denial much?

I have no opinion on "Obamacare". I don't like the guy, and I think he's burying the USA for his own ends - just as every previous president.

But, that does not excuse a hateful specimen like her preaching to others about how they are second-class citizens, or that they're "ill", or that they need to be "cured".

My opinion stands, she is no better than the Taliban forcing their doctrine on women, the Zionists attacking the Palestinians, the Christians spreading AIDS through Africa through their ignorance...

Religious nut bags listening to the little voices in their heads DO NOT belong in government, no matter what the religion.

Socialism

Well, it's clear that the socialists/communists have come out of the bushes.
It usually happens when the unemployment rate is high.
The good news is that the capitalists are already on their way back into the White House.

All we need now is to retake the U.S. Senate.

House of Representatives -- Done.
White House -- Done. Obama blew it.
---------
The new GOP POTUS should bring Michelle Bachmann in as a small government czar.

Shut down the Department of Education. - Just watch Waiting for Superman -

America tried on a socialist suit and it didn't fit.
