Music has never let me down.
Its never cheated on me.
Its there when I need a friend.
Its there when during dark and light times.
Music is love and love is music.
So lets rock out, dance, head bop on th side, slide and glide into the heart of things. WIth music.
-----------------------------------------------------------

I don't about you guys, but music is a vein that runs deep. Without music my survival rate would drop temendously.
Music is one of those all of us are psychicly connected to, some more then others. From personal perspective, I can play music around friends and by the music that plays I can get a sense of the aurora/energy that is a room. Music helps us connect on a level that our conversation has lacked in a major way in the past two decades. Music has brought people of shapes, sizes, and color together to discuss every kind of issue.

So lets jam out to some sweet music and conversate about the issues that ring in your ears and thought.

One of my favorite bands is Tool and they certaintly bring to the table vibratory plane that most people havent taken the chance to explore.

We listen to the tales and romanticize,
how we follow the path of the hero.

Boast about the day when the rivers overrun,
How we'll rise to the height of our halo.

Listen to the tales as we all rationalize,
our way into the arms of the savior.
Feigning all the trials and the tribulations.

None of us have actually been there,
Not like you...

Ignorant siblings in the congregation.
Gather around spewing sympathy,
Spare me...

None of them can even hold a candle up to you.
Blinded by choice, these hypocrites won't see.

But enough about the collective Judas.
Who could deny you were the one who illuminated?
Your little piece of the divine.

And this little light of mine, a gift you passed on to me
I'm gonna let it shine
to guide you safely on your way.

Your way home...

Oh, what are they gonna do when the lights go down?
Without you to guide them all to Zion?
What are they gonna do when the rivers overrun?
Other than tremble incessantly.

High is the way,
but our eyes are upon the ground.
You are the light and the way.
They'll only read about.
I only pray heaven knows,
when to lift you out.

10,000 days in the fire is long enough.
You're going home...

You're the only one who can hold your head up high.
Shake your fist at the gates saying,
"I have come home now...!"
Fetch me the spirit, the son and the father.
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.

"It's time now!
My time now!
Give me my
Give me my wings...!"

Give me my [x5]

(Give me my wings)

You are the light, the way,
that they will only read about.

Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance.
Burden of proof tossed upon the believers.
You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence,
Judith Marie, unconditional one.

Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence.
Difficult to see you in this light.
Please forgive this bold suggestion.
Should you see your maker's face tonight,
Look him in the eye.
Look him in the eye and tell him,
I never lived a lie, never took a life,
But surely saved one.

Hallelujah
It's time for you to bring me home.

-------------------

I' sure we can all relate to these lyrics and even more will in the not to distant future. Not to long ago was I sheep much like you, but it was decided that my third eye needed to be pryed open until I couldnt ignore the truth of reality any longer.

I agree, music has always been a key component in human interaction. A way for people to relate without saying a word. The right music can make your energy come to life, almost like magic.
Certain note combinations can make your hair stand on end and send shivers to the top of your head.. and you can be totally sober. As if the vibrations communicate with our spiritual essence as it's received by our physical senses.

Tool is an amazing band for sure, I started listening to them about 5 years ago. I really appreciate the layers of depth and complexity to their sound, while still maintaining cohesion. For example many of their songs have different time signatures from 4/4 to 5/8 while the drummer is on say, a 3/3 or 5/3 count. Yet they overlap at certain periods of the song to regain harmony.
Hard for me to explain (i'm a percussionist, but not a composer.. yet)
It's very cool, through mathematics and vibrations a good band will put you right where you want to be.

Here's a version of Rocket Man, from Puscifer, another one of Maynard's projects.
Not a huge Elton fan, but this song is very cool.

I agree brother. Between you and I believe the time is coming where unity or coming together will no longer be an option. If we don't learn how to live together we won't have to worry about and ELE outside of our own doing. I've never been much of an ELton John fan myself, but I had heard many songs that would reference this "Rockit Man" and I am beginning to see there is something to it. In fact, just the other day I realized that Elton John was the original writer of this song and you just so happened to point that out, coincidence? I think not because what lead me to writing this thread? Listening to WMMR on my home today I here "Jambi" from Tool and they made the comment about their time signatures and I delved into it further leading me to this here. Go figure you also picked up on that.

Nice to see you on this plane.

When will we all, awake up out this dream
Come here and smell the Folgers, the soldiers are human beings

Man actin as if he was the supreme bein
Clockin the souls of men out like he was G-O-D and
W-A-Rrah, there'll be no tomorrow but sorrow
and horror will follow the hollow hearts battle for dollars
Politicians, modern day magicians
Physicians of death, more health care for poor health
Who makin us ill, they makin us kill
That's makin me spill my guts (chill Big, lay in the cut)
For what? I refuse to sit in the backseat and get handled
Like I do nuttin all day but sit around watch the Cartoon Channel
I rap about, the Presidential election and the scandal
that followed, and we all watched the nation, as it swallowed
and chalked it up, basically America you got #ED
The media shucked and jived now we stuck - damn!

And today with the Gaga's and the Rihanna's etc, it's like they take a good thing (music) and they put all these twisted messages in it, the masses just gobble it all up. But I believe subliminally it mind *blips* you into a state of selfishness and apathy.
Not all of their songs are like that, I admit. Though my gf does listen to some of it even though she knows it's total crap, but the beats are so catchy it makes women want to dance and shake around :p

I like bands that have more ambiguous lyrics, that way I can interpret them the way that I want and not superimposed over the rest of the band. Not very artistic in my opinion.

But if there are lyrics, at least make the message positive.. when applicable.
So many "bands" nowadays that are about nothing.

I've never heard of Zion I & The Grouch but I really liked that song in the video you linked. Typically I'm not a big fan of most rap (or whatever genre that falls into) but that caught my attention, and the lyrics are cool, which isn't the type of rap I'm most familiar with, unfortunately.

I'll be sharing it with a few people that are really into rap/r&b /hiphop/ whatever you call it

Ha yea I know man you really don't want to throw a band like Zion I into the whole rap/hip hop category because it is bloodied with Lil Wayne, Wakka Flaka, Gucci Mane, etc. But, its def. hip hop and in a form that takes hip hop to a whole new level for most. Glad you enjoyed it.

About lyrics being left to interpretation, I have to agree. That is art after all.
