The Marine repeatedly makes the point that there is no honor in hurting people who are completely peaceful.

If the Marine’s logic is carried through to its logical conclusion, clearly we can say there is no honor in the police using violence against people who simply want to retain the fruits of their own labor (ie. people who refuse to support the violent State through the tax system.)

Why should these protesters be forced to pay the salaries of their oppressors?

Zero Hedge reports:

United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Shamar Thomas from Roosevelt, NY went toe to
toe with the New York Police Department. An activist in the Occupy Wall
Street movement, Thomas voiced his opinions of the NYPD police brutality
that had and has been plaguing the #OWS movement.

Thomas is a 24-year-old Marine Veteran (2 tours in Iraq), he currently plays amateur football and is in college.

Thomas comes from a long line of people who sacrifice for their country:
Mother, Army Veteran (Iraq), Step father, Army, active duty
(Afghanistan), Grand father, Air Force veteran (Vietnam), Great Grand
Father Navy veteran (World War II).

I took an Oath that I live by.I am NOT anti-NYPD. I am anti- Police
Brutality. I am no longer under contract with the USMC so I do NOT have
to follow military uniform regulations. I DON’T affiliate myself with
ANY GROUPS or POLITICAL ORG. I affiliate myself with the AMERICAN PEOPLE
that’s it. I REFUSE to affiliate with anything that SEPERATES. There is
an obvious problem in the country and PEACEFUL PEOPLE should be allowed
to PROTEST without Brutality. I was involved in a RIOT in Rutbah, Iraq
2004 and we did NOT treat the Iraqi citizens like they are treating the
unarmed civilians in our OWN Country. No one was brutalized because our
mission was to “WIN the hearts and minds”, why should I expect anything
less in my OWN Country.

Sgt. Shamar Thomas USMC Veteran

This man is the definition of hero. These police officers need to heed his words and heed them well, because if the police keep hurting people there will be more like him. there will be more of him. Every time a police officer hurts someone, they are one step closer to being mauled over by tens of thousands of pissed off american citizens.

My understanding is a lot of those protestors do not pay taxes so that would mean they aren't paying their salaries because they are jobless and homeless.

However I see where you want to go with this thread should people pay the people who oppress them the answer is No they shouldn't and that means local, state and federal because they use oppressive means to collect payment for said oppression.

Perhaps a lot of them are not paying in more than they get in benefits. And perhaps many of them are socialists who would do great harm to the prosperity of this nation. However, there are clearly a few among them who are not.

We must look at the actions of the State and the fact that violence against people who have harmed no one is NEVER justified - by the State through taxes, by Wall Street crony capitalist looters, or by street thug looters.

You know i agree with a lot of you say and I'm sitting here thinking that they are using violence against the state hence the old adage violence begets violence.

The state using it agianst the people and the people using it against the state.

I side with no one the anarchist way isn't it?

I saw LEOs saying calmly and fairly quietly, "Move along. Let's move along, now." I saw no riot gear. I saw no LEOs hurting people. I don't get what he's yelling about.

Where exactly did you come up with that idea? That many of the protesters are unemployed and don't pay taxes? Even if that statement is true, it still doesn't give the police any right to be hurting these citizens that they swore to protect.

Considering that we've got the top two threads on the front page talking about the exact same guy in the same forum, this thread will probably get a quick 30 or so flags before the mods do anything about it.

Camping out for over a month kinda gives that away and i'm not sitting there saying all but a large portion isn't that the reason they are protesting?

No Money.
No Jobs.
No Nothing.

I literally laughed out loud when I read that. Thanks for cheering me up. Carry on. I'm going to flag/star your original post, and see if we can move this one to the main page too. We have 2 already, why not 3?

You know, there is no harm in having multiple threads that cover the same event.

With the voting system this forum has, people will naturally up-vote those articles which do the best job of covering the topic in question.

It is to the community's benefit to have multiple people covering the same topic.

Let the market decide, not moderators.
