Ok so the officials have raised the alert level to yellow but I have heard that behind the scenes they are far more worried than they are letting on. I cant prove this to you in anyway so its up to you wether you believe me, but they are hearing noises under the sea from magma and seismic movements, the magma as we all know IS rising and they are just as worried if not more that it will result in a powerful earthquake not just an eruption. Even the suggestion of a huge under sea eruption which would be big enough to create a new small island hasnt been ruled out

This threat is real, not saying it will be cataclysmic, but if something of that scale happened under the sea surely there would be some sort of tsunami?

From two days ago:

As reported on in July by Myweathertech.com. In excess of 6,750 earthquakes have been recorded up to Monday, 26 September 2011. More than 50 earthquakes were recorded between midnight and 6:00 a.m. GMT on Monday alone. The earth tremors have ranged between 1 and 3 magnitude, the National Geographic Institute (IGN) reported.

“It is the youngest of the Canary Islands. There is a ball of magma which is rising to the surface and it is stationed at the limit of the earth’s crust. At the moment we do not know if that ball of magna will break the crust and cause an eruption.”

I have no link im afraid, just a message I was passed on by some 'experts'.

YEs ive read those stories that have been published about 'movement', my point is that behind the scenes they are far more concerned about it than they are telling us.

S&F - hadn't caught this story yet.

Found this:

MADRID, SPAIN (Catholic Online) - The 108 square mile island of El Hierro is home to about 10,000 people. And the population is on standby orders for emergency evacuation. The island has seen thousands of small earthquakes in what seismologists refer to as an, "earthquake swarm." They believe the earthquake swarm is a sign that an eruption is imminent. Nearly 9,000 tremors have been detected in the last two months.

even it they know it's most likely to blow they will not announce it until they absolutely have to. It's just how these things are done. They don't want to panic people and have it just settle down again. Now i don't personally agree with this way of doing things. I think that all information and data regarding situations like this should be made public imediatly so people can prepare for worst case senarios and a multitude of experts in the field of geology can study the data individually and then confirm with others so that the truth can be known.

And you also stated a few posts down

I have heard that behind the scenes they are far more worried than they are letting on.

Would you be so kind to reveal how you have "heard from behind the scenes"?

Can you give a bit more information that just "behind the scenes"?

If they were so concerned, I am sure they would raise the level to red.

I mean, why wouldn't they? In L'aquila, Italy seismologists are being charged with manslaughter for not properly warning of a quake that killed a few hundred people.

Who is flagging this anyway?

This has even been reported in mainstream media, so yeah this is for sure real.
I just hope it wont trigger any other canary island volcanoes or any earthquakes as that can lead to large parts of a island falling into ocean, which will lead to tsunami that will be worse than any in modern times. It will affect entire coast line of USA and also parts of Europe when that happens.

It is only a question of time when it happens anyways.

For those who haven't heard of this threat: link

I know someone who has a few connections in this seismology 'industry', he knows im into this kind of things and passes on to me any worth while information.

By 'behind the scenes' I mean the people who are analysing and watching the activity in the El Hierro area.

It has been rumbling for some time now, and an eruption is propably underway.

Undersea eruptions, and the form of new island has happened a couple of times in our time, and been captured on video, they don't necesarily mean a tsunami will be created.

This one is pretty violent, but no tsunami.

Me, thats who... what about it?!

Thats the point of the flag system right? To flag things we think are important?

Have you seen some of the stuff people post?

Idonthaveabeard's OP contained something that I see as plausible...

Its not like Idonthaveabeard said "run now! we are all gonna die from a Mega Uber Ultra Super Volcano!"

At least it wasnt some half cracked prediction...

I'll flag the OP for not blaming Comet Elenin or Nibiru

No offense kalunom, really no offense.

EDIT:

In all fairness

I will agree with what you said...

Logic makes me think they would raise the level to red...

But logic and trust combined makes me question and look at the OP and wonder otherwise... and say hmmmmmmm... the OP may be on to something

What can I say?

I got Trust Issues...

I hope your right about this situation and there is nothing to it..

But I also look at how "we" are been lied to in the past...
Multiple times and at great expense...

So we'll have to wait and see

Check out some of the Surtsey videos, thats awesome.

Some Wiki on Surtsey.

A little tip.
If someone post a video, don't press quote, press reply, it keeps the thread more clean

I understand that a red level is when an eruption has actually started.
So we still wait and see!

Thank you for that bit of information. I appreciate it.

That gives a bit more weight to your OP.

If you hear any further information, I hope you pass it along as well.

Isn't this the island where there is a huge shelf of stone poised to slide into the ocean at any moment, causing a giant tsunami to the entire east coast of N America? That one?

Man, I just came back from a boat trip to avoid the comet. Now I'm gonna have to head back out to avoid the tsunami!

The Island that is slipping into the ocean is
La Palma

Not the one discussed in this thread

But the -potential- for a Tsunami is still there if the explosion on El Hierro is great enough.
