Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water.

Wildlife authorities in the Philippines say they have captured a 21-foot-long, 2,370-pound saltwater crocodile, thought to be the largest creature of its kind now in captivity.

Check out the picture on the news source. Gives me the heebie jeebies. According to the article, the previous record was an 18-footer in Australia.

About the same size as Gustave, then. Was sad to see this was from the Phillipines, I was hoping they'd finally caught him. He's eaten way too many people.

Good find, and scary stuff. S&F, thanks.

That's a huge Croc!
And as far as it's concerned we are lunch.
Scary.

Take something ancient, wondrous and rare...then put it in a cage.

Sounds about right on par for what we do.

Sad really.

Here's a picture of 'Sweetheart' the 5.1m Saltwater Croc that they caught in Australia. This monster was known for attacking 15 or more boats and in some cases, biting the outboard motors right off the back.

Jude11, I agree with you. It makes me really sad. I could only watch a few seconds of the video for that very reason. I know that we have to protect ourselves when animals like this are killing people, but there must be some other way.
