I am okay with people lying to me. I won't look down on them or expect them to right some kind of wrong. They are being the way they want, and in the way that reality will be. Some of what you say Spacetree is the sort of thinking that leads people into the hands of ponzi schemers, con artists and scammers. Why? Because before you even know what it's about, you are already justifying poor behaviour.

I'm not out to pick on Open and I've said before and like TNT said earlier, it has been a great catalyst for us all to get together here and meet and share and connect. But Open set themselves up to be looked at with a critical eye by presenting material that can change perception and offered no support, no real guidance and seemingly no concern for the fact that an experienced teacher would not just blow someones perception open without first being sure that the person was in a mentally and spiritually clear and strong enough place to deal with what might come next.

I do have a problem with that as I work in this area and have dealt with people damaged by the after effects of dabbling in mind altering techniques that were badly taught.

Also Open's cryptic answers, dislike of criticism and some comments such as that there is more but people aren't ready to see it, raised flags for me as it implied that he/she was setting him/herself in a teaching position and one that was in a 'knowing' position.

The knowing position is fine with me if the 'teacher' then follows through. And I'm not saying I know it all, but I've had very good teachers on my journey and all say question everything you are told because unless you can feel something to be true it isn't true for you and if a teacher isn't making themselves available to answer your questions and help clarify things then get out fast.

A good teacher also has a consistent message and will tell you very clearly from the outset what they are offering, what they want you to achieve and how they plan on getting you there.

And it is NEVER OK to be lied to imo.

I'll just pick out a few parts of what you said to show what bothers me:

eg. " I think open knows exactly what open is doing." Is this true? Open so far has shown no evidence whatsoever that he/she knows what they are doing, and all the backtracking and theme changing would at this stage point to an opposite assumption.

LETTING US? I would seriously question that thought. Even the most powerful master on the planet doesn't have nor wants to have the kind of power that LETS US do or not do anything. To believe that concept lets a person wide open to be manipulated.

And is that even true? Maybe we do need to be saved but maybe not in the way you think. A really good teacher can actually do that but to know how to learn from a good teacher you need to learn how to be a student first and the best teachers will always teach you how to be that first so that you are well prepared and protected for learning new things.

"We can find another way, our way."
That is true and I also get the idea that, like Sheba said, we are all our own guru. But in reality we learn all the time in everything we do. We don't just sit in a car and drive, we take lessons. Why would we treat life any differently? We want to learn about the best ways to do thing and if someone has learned something of value and wants to share it in a responsible and thought out way then there is nothing wrong with hearing them out. Our spirit wants to grow and we are naturally attracted to learn new things all the time, so we will be open to teachings whether we are aware that is what we are doing or not.

The one teaching has a responsibility to do it with honesty and clarity and the one learning has a responsibility to be discerning and very aware of ego traps, projection and to take an active role and not blindly accept without questioning and checking in constantly to see how what is going on feels like.

I don't mean any offense here, just this is something I feel strongly about.

Love is seeing someone with absolute clarity... exactly as they are, not as you wish them to be. It is really that simple. And, you cannot love someone if they lie to you, because then the water is muddy and you can't see them clearly. This includes self-lies. You can't love yourself properly if you lie to your own self too.

If Open's intent is to promote love not fear, then there would be no room for lies of any sort.

I very much am thinking about the others. If you read all my posts on this thread, you'll see my tone changed dramatically when the issue of schizophrenia came up. There was a reason for that: I realized that my very own posts may have been unintentionally working on fragile, vulnerable minds, which I would never want in a million years. Open's whole "game" can have serious repercussions in real life. Very serious repercussions.

And then my computer got hacked. Trojan with a keylogger. Very well hidden in a way that the majority of scanners are not going to find it. I know for sure it got hacked as a result of my involvement in this whole thread. Who did the hacking, I don't know and may never know. I won't make accusations on that, though I will remind everyone that at one point Open emailed people who never gave him their email addresses. *Awareness* ... open eyes... see what is going on... even if it wasn't Open, Open's project attracted hackers like honey to flies. You can say that is not his fault but if it were you, and your intent was to serve others and not harm them, would you continue on?

And -- the goal is not to rid yourself from all emotions. That is impossible, nor is it desirable. You cannot even rid yourself completely of fear (see Green Lantern) but you can overcome it. The practice of awareness means you honor your emotions, you allow yourself to feel them, as observer, and you don't hold on to them or allow them to carry you away. You are sitting on the bank of the river and the emotions flow on by, like twigs and logs floating on the current. If you jump in to grab on to them, you may drown, but if you sit and watch, you still feel them, acknowledge them, but then they pass on by.
