Obama taking photo ops at wounded knee last week

Friends of mine were doing the Sundance Tribal Ceremonies last week at wounded knee when Obama showed up to hang a reef on the monument and get a bunch of photos taken...ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC

This Jerk has no boundary's, it seems he'll stick his nose in everything he can to attempt to make himself look good for his re-election and his LIBRARY, just a few days ago he was leering over the dead soldiers. WHEN GOD IS THIS GOING TO END

Why can't he take photos there?

Are you surprised? Obama is picking and putting together a voter base, mainly of the minority groups to try to get reelected. This is just one more stop for his reelection campaign, that way he can point out what he has done for them, rather than the entire country.

You'd have a great point if Obama recently endorsed legislation outlawing native Americans from gathering and celebrating.

Well, if you don't want him taking pictures, which ANYONE can do, you really want him in a ceremony? Face it, you're just trying to bash obama for nothing. He took a picture. Go complain about his policies, not his photo-ops.

So are you saying that everyone who desires to visit Wounded Knee should first participate in the Sundance Ceremony, or just that Obama should have to participate? And where does your authority on the subject originate? Just curious.

While the plite of the native american is a sad one, the problem is 2 fold. The first part is the US policies where they give hand outs to the native americans on their reservations. NO other group gets paid money for being of this group or the other, and not all of the different tribes are so generous as the others. The tribes with casinos do not share their wealth with any of the other tribes. As I stated this is a 2 fold problem as the other part is the native americans themselves, by staying where they are at, and not wanting to go out and try to improve their conditions. In this modern age, one can not have it both ways, that means that if they want the growth and progress, to feed and be self sustaining, it can not be done from being on the reservation. The youth of the tribe are going to have to get off and seek to become professionals and then return to build up the reservations. Other tribes are doing such, and thus all have that potential.

Were your friends there to participate in the ceremony or just there to take pictures?

I'm sorry SD, but I believe your statements and suggested solution are a considerable oversimplification of the origin of the problems faced on the rez (at least on Pine Ridge). There are major historical and cultural issues that you are overlooking with your characterization of the problem.

There's no industry there at all and the food is very expensive and very far away, plus there isn't enough water or wells and literally no trees for heating and no one offering to go help these people come in to the 21st century, i know i cant blame the government for all of their problems because of the division in the tribes and their politics, but Obama needs to quit trying to push his pathetic agenda on these poor people, and just remain hands off until a real leader with real solution steps up to the plate, because you know everything that half wit touches damages our infrastructure and threatens lives
