New ATS Survey: UFOs and Extraterrestrials

Now it's time to shift gears away from current events for a while and offer our members and visitors a survey on what is still a very popular topic on ATS, UFOs and Extraterrestrials.

This new survey covers some important broad-strokes to gauge the opinions of our members and visitors on some basic UFOlogy ideas, as well as opinions on five popular UFO incidences (I'd like to include more, but the five selected seem to be a good mix). Also, in what is certainly to be the most hotly-anticipated result, you'll be able to rank what you feel represents the most significant "danger" to the perceived credibility of UFOlogy.

In relation to this question:

Which of the following do you feel represents the most significant harm to the perceived credibility of UFOlogy and the ultimate disclosure of extraterrestrial intelligence

has anyone proved that there is any extraterrestrial intelligence TO BE disclosed?

Excellent idea Skeptic Overlord , this is just what we need right now to take our minds off the doom and gloom of the failing economy.

I dont think i like the available answers to some of the questions though. I think there should have been some options for 'undecided at this time' and maybe some options for 'undiscovered natural phenomenon'.

On the two questions regarding sightings, the ATS thread links are swapped.

Be honest; are you being paid to run these surveys?

What's the purpose of them? Obviously it's to see what the majority thinks on ATS...But is this to pander to the majority? Does it to help wtih advertising, target audiences and such like?

Or is it just a random survey for fun?

Really appreciate answers as I can't see any real use for them.

Great idea for a survey. I don't know if it has been fixed, but when I took the survey the links to the threads for the Stephensville and the O'Hare incidents had been incorrectly placed or labelled with each other. Did I word that right?

You seem to of left out the option of being `uncertain` .

Now IIsac I know and you know that there have been credible individuals within the govt and military who say that we are being visited. Do they offer irrefutable proof? I dont think thats possible with the atmosphere surrounding this issue. For me, they offer a reason to remain open minded to the idea.

I would have appreciated a 'I don't know' option for some of the questions.

Given a choice between 'hoax' or 'definitely terrestrial' I had to pick the terrestrial option, because that would cover a hoax or a sighting of 'something', since both could have been down to humans.

Unless aliens are hoaxing us

Maybe make one in the future asking various sub-topic type questions like
1) Do you think Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Yeti exist?
2) Do you think any left over dinosaurs exist such as Loch Ness, Champ, or Mokele Mbembe?
3) Do you think Atlantis or Mu or other ancient advanced civs existed?
4) Do you think there is any strange events in the Bermuda Triangle?
5) Do you think ghosts exist? Or Have you experienced a Ghost?

Just some very basic questions that would be really interesting to see a type of cross section of general belief about. Anything like that would be really interesting imho.

Taking it now too.

It would have been appropriate to allow the ticking of more than one box in the final question pertaining to elements within UFOlogy that are doing it harm. It is often a combination of many things. Choosing just one gives an inaccurate picture of such issues.

I couldnt help but think that the least damaging thing to Ufology would have been easier to choose!
