In the below article and video Sen. Rubio articulates that America doesn't need new taxes. We need more jobs for all those unemployed in order to increase the tax revenue. In the second article he criticizes the Democrats for not having a plan on paper. Sen. Rubio is swinging at Obama and the Democrats and gaining popularity in the process.

We don’t need new taxes. We need new taxpayers, people that are gainfully employed, making money and paying into the tax system. Then we need a government that has the discipline to take that additional revenue and use it to pay down the debt and never grow it again. That’s what we should be focused on, and that‘s what we’re not focused on.

www.theblaze.com...

And if you don’t like it change it, you’ve got the votes here to do it. If you’ve got a better idea, bring this bill up and amend it. Put your ideas on it. But how could you ask for compromise? How could you ask the House? How could you scold Republicans in the House for refusing to compromise if you don’t have a plan of your own? How can you compromise if you don’t have any ideas of your own? It’s not a fair thing to say.

www.verumserum.com...

I agree that America needs more jobs that in return will help increase the tax revenue that could be used to help pay off our debt. But I have to question whether a no new tax policy is sufficient to help pay off the debt.

Sen. Marco Rubio from Florida is a fast rising star within the GOP. He is already being rumored to be a potential Vice President candidate.

Romney Campaign Already Floating “Romney/Rubio” Ticket

freedomslighthouse.net...

However, he has stated he doesn't want to be VP candidate.

“I’m flattered, but I will not be anyone’s running mate.

He is also on record saying NO on running for president.

NO Presidential run

His political experience prior to US Senate.

From 2000-2008, Rubio served in the Florida House of Representatives. During this period, he served as Majority Whip, Majority Leader and Speaker of the House, effectively promoting an agenda of lower taxes, better schools, a leaner and more efficient government and free market empowerment.

Could Rubio be a wild card in the 2012 elections?

Would he get your vote?

Can the debt be addressed with no new taxes?

He's a republican -- what is the track record on republican ideas about money -- argument is invalid.

He's right we do need jobs it's about time a repub figured that out. This is why corporate welfare needs to stop and the entitled tax breaks for the wealthy needs to end. They received these breaks on the promise of creating jobs. They failed they didn't hold up their end of the bargain. So that which was given needs to be taken away.

another problem with a simple solution, America is a super power they can and have done whatever they want with out anyone globally stopping them. so you want more taxpayers invade and annex Canada and Mexico a new North American empire that answers to no one and voila more taxpayers and more revenue to waste on govt contracts

"Can the debt be addressed with no new taxes? "

Of course it can. Stop giving tax breaks to companies who have moved overseas. Start putting tariffs on foreign goods that are undercutting American made goods. Repeal NAFTA,GAFT. This will bring jobs back and provide the gov with tax revenue generated by more people working and paying taxes. It will also look good on their political resumes next time they are running for election.

no not so sure he would get my vote.

and we yes we need new taxpayers.

starting with the half of this country who pays no taxes whatsoever.

secondly getting 50 million americans off welfare and get them to start creating their own wealth instead of taking someone elses.

teach americans better money management skills vs buying all the latest and greatest must haves and start saving the truth is americans arent that good with money and that needs to change.

get people to start investing in their futures instead of relying on a ss check that may or may not even be there.

get government the hell out of business and create an environment that where business want to stay here.

the more people working the more money they have the more they spend the more tax revenue they generate for themselves and the government and the less government has to be spending on them.

thats my solution and i am surely to get flamed for it.

People pay for Social Security, and if its not there, where the hell did it go? That IS an investment of sorts, and there is no reason why something you pay all your life suddenly goes missing. And we need unemployment, I have been laid off 6 times or so, its not my fault business is failing. You need this kind of stuff as long as jobs are so unstable. Granted alot of people abuse the system....it just shows we need changes.

Well evidently, there are currently 40-50% of Americans who are not paying taxes right now.. so there is the loss of income right there.

Add to that, the illegals who are using public services, but are not paying taxes. you have a major lack of taxable income.

then aside from that you have all the brand spankin new government workers who just got jobs under obama.
which means more payroll, pension, and benefits.

what has to be figured out is how can we bring the cost of everyday living down, so that those 40-50% can start paying taxes again and still live. we also have figure something out with immigration, and the illegal immigration issue. And we need to bring jobs back, so we don't just have a service economy, and reduce the amount of government workers.

In my area they are paying postal workers $20 an hour... and that's a do nothing job.

the reason its like that is because SS is a public retirement fund. everyone pays into this giant pot and everyone who's eligible can take from it, including politicians who need to fund a pet project.

social security is a scam man in more ways than one

first off its a ponzi scheme

secondly everyone says they pay into ss so they should be getting it but the reality is:

you pay 6 % and you pass the buck off to your employer matches at another 6 % passing that off to federal government who decides who gets who doesnt and then steals it.

the fact is that 6% that you actually pay never amounts to what you receive in total pay.

people are better off taking that 6% and put it elsewhere.

and your right its not your fault americans are the victims here of bad government and bad policies that destroy people instead of doing what they were supposedly designed for.

best of luck man.

Didn't they say recently they might close some post offices? More unemployed.

This is what gets me. Seems we have so many areas to address but Congress addresses very few of them. Just look how long they have been on the debt, how much time they spent on healthcare. What about the other tons of issues?

Very interesting graph.

With all the FTA's the government want to sign, I expect excise tax to diminish even more. Notice corporate taxes have shrunk as well.

Paroll taxes!!!!

You always do Neo

How ever I will add.

Small business people I have met always complain that welfare pays more than they can afford to. Why should someone work (and pay taxes) when the government will keep them in style just for popping out babies???

Perhaps we need to cut welfare on anyone who has more than one kid. First kid is a freebie, if you have a second WHILE ON WELFARE OR IF YOU HAVE BEEN ON WELFARE then tough! (This keeps people from gaming the system)

Do DNA and figure out the father, MAKE HIM PAY! Darn it I know a guy who just sired his FIFTY SECOND welfare baby. 52 kid you and I pay for!!! (He is also very wealthy from running drugs and stolen cars from Florida to NYC and back)

If the dude can not pay then use Hungary's system

After 90 days of unemployment insurance, all assistance will come to a screeching halt. If the unemployed person can't find a job during those 90 days, he will have to enroll in public works programs which might be anywhere in the country and work on some large public projects, like building football stadiums or dams and cleaning sewers. The work will be done under police supervision.

Start putting tariffs on foreign goods that are undercutting American made goods.

The poor and middle class tend to buy their goods from China, do you really think it would be best to make those goods ``more`` expensive?

Social Security is supposed to be a trust fund. That's the way it was setup. It was, through the 'contract with America' supposed to be untouchable, inviolate and perpetual. In other words, it was never supposed to be used for ANYTHING besides paying out SS.

The whole 'solution' according to the Republicans is to not tax businesses and the elite becuase they're the ones who'll create jobs. Remember 'trickle down economics'? It's allegedly gonna work like the bailouts. Rememeber them? That was when the uber capitalists screwed themselves and we (the taxpayers) covered their losses cause they're 'too big to fail'. Remember, the rich/elite and big business pay a disproportionately small amount of total taxes. So the deal was, we bail them out and they start loaning again to fuel the economy. But instead they put the money on Wallstreet (exactly what started the problem) and the economy just languished. So we're all supposed to believe that if we leave the rich/businesses alone they'll start creating jobs. What an undisguised load of crap! This is rape and pillage at an unprecedented level. How stupid are we???

Payroll Taxes+ social security =Medicare + medicaid

Glad someone finally looked at that graph. It is a real shocker isn't it??

It shows how the people paying tax on WAGES are really getting the shaft.

Here is the break down of income and percent TAXES paid:

Top 50% - $33,048 (and up) pay 97.30% of the taxes

Top 25% - $67,280 (and up) pay 86.34 % of the taxes

Top 10% - $113,799 (and up) pay 69.94 % of the taxes

Bottom 50% less than $33,048 pay 2.7 % of the taxes

Do you happen to know how much these 50% receive from government considering child tax credit, earned income credit, etc?

You, as well as others, have raised a legit issue about the percentage who don't pay taxes.
