Wasteful and redundant Federal agencies exist in the age of raising the debt ceiling

The Federal Government is demanding our Congressmen raise the debt ceiling and taxes, so the Federal Government can spend even more than the record amounts they're spending.

Most likely your state already has agencies for Health, Education, Employment, Welfare, etc. Many in the list are redundant to what states offer, and spend Billions reinventing the wheel or creating paperwork that's already been created.

How about we abolish say, every other agency on the list? What if we placed on the ballot a measure to abolish a significant number of these agencies, imagine how many Billions or Trillions would we save! I would imagine many of these agencies are like the 'people person' in the movie 'Office Space'.

Absolutely amazing. And that's just a partial list. And it doesn't include the hundreds, if not thousands, of State agencies that are almost always redundant ontop of Federal agencies. We need less government not more, and the debate shouldn't even be about "debt ceilings" it should be about how to drastically reduce the size of the Government that we obviously can't afford!

Wow I knew there was a lot of federal agencies, but I had never seen them listed like that. I fully agree though, it seems that are many redundant agencies in that list. We could probably combine many of those.


The only thing about combining them that concerns them is the loss of jobs it would cause. The last thing we need is thousands of more people out of work.

I have dealt with all three when i was a mine superintendent and they all do the same job.
its a pain to have to take the day and escort one of them around the mine during there inspections.

But its a real pain in the a** when there rules conflict and one fines the mine for something and a week later one of the others tell you you are doing things right and you would be in violation of there rules if you did it the way the one that fined you wants it done.
plus all three like to do two inspections a year and its a waste of time spending 6 days a year just dealing with them.

And mining is as far as i know is the only occupation were these agencies can still inspect even if you have NO employees.

That sounds like a real pain. Almost like getting search warrants from Police, State Police, Sheriff, FBI, US Marshalls, and ATF. Hmm, did I leave out one?

As far as job losses, government jobs are not economically productive jobs. Getting rid of government jobs (especially redundant jobs) will remove a burden from the economy, and removing a drag from the economy will create jobs.
