Future by Design shares the life and far-reaching vision of Jacque Fresco, considered by many to be a modern day Da Vinci. Peer to Einstein and Buckminster Fuller, Jacque is a self-taught futurist who describes himself most often as a "generalist" or multi-disciplinarian -- a student of many inter-related fields. He is a prolific inventor, having spent his entire life (he is now 95 years old) conceiving of and devising inventions on various scales which entail the use of innovative technology. As a futurist, Jacque is not only a conceptualist and a theoretician, but he is also an engineer and a designer.

Jacque Fresco (born March 13, 1916), is a self-educated structural designer, philosopher of science, concept artist, educator, and futurist. His interests span a wide range of disciplines including several in philosophy, science, and engineering. Fresco writes and lectures extensively on his view of subjects ranging from the holistic design of sustainable cities, energy efficiency, natural resource management, cybernated technology, advanced automation, and the role of science in society, focusing on the benefits he claims this will bring

First I would like to share a 1974 Larry king live interview,so that you can get an idea of how long Jaque has been working on a"Future by design."

Here is a second link to a 1h20 documentary.
which in a short period of time, attempts to explain just how these cities would come to be built.
As for what I think....I would have to quote Mr fresco himself."It's not perfect, but it's a hell of alot better then what we have now"

I hope this short thread and videos, can help shed some light on how beautiful the future could be.

I applaud you for posting these, but realize you are about to be called a socialist, communist, and something else that doesn't fit for posting this information.

I agree, this theoretical society is leagues better than what we currently find ourselves miserable in.

Aye,my boss has recently called me a socialist/communist.
But it doesnt bother me none, for once one looks at the "Big three" of politics and goverment.
You must realise that these are systems that were all invented by 17th and 18th century thinking.
They all use a monetary system of some kind.
Once one starts to look into a "future by design" it's clear that it has nothing in league with communism etc.

I just watched this yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed it - it's not communism, it's called the mecha revolution, and is a natural progression of society.

Absolute technologies that produce absolute statistics could be a very great thing in the type of society envisioned by this pioneer; In the hands of evil mega-corporations though, they will be used to destroy the gray area forever and kill the human soul; and I'm not being even a little bit melodramatic.

Who doesn't like Bucky Fuller inventor of the geodesic dome and an energy efficient car that drove on one wheel and writer of Critical Path? As soon as I read his name I starred and flagged the thread.
Don't know this Jacque Fresco but here is the video...

He is called a modern day DaVinci here

There are 6 videos in this series...I will just post the first. If you like what he says you can watch the rest. A little bit about it is that he speaks about his views about society and how to improve it. I would like to finish watching the series myself and then comment more on it. For now it pertains to the topic at hand in case anyone else is not acquainted with Jaque Fresco. Also I'd like to get back and watch the rest of the videos on him so posting this here.

The Venus project is an absolutely brilliant dream

Sadly, it is just a dream...we are not advanced enough as a collective to build the prototype city that would be self sustaining, however, the day will come when it will be built, and then one next to it, etc...and the old system will die out,

We may have to wait for the fossle fuels to run its course first.

This tech was available 40 years ago to build, but ability does not mean willingness..and willingness is often determined by corporations (aka, the masters).

So, such concepts are quickly labelled something negative by the corporatists to stop the discussions..after all, there is still a buck to be made off the slaves of society.

No problem, thank YOU for turning me onto the guy and posting the thread. I hope it takes off and if not we can keep it going. This is going to be a treat. I like big ideas. Who said "the impossible only takes a little longer?" I like that quote. Keep the faith.

The philosophy he puts forth sounds like the way the Indians tried to live in harmony with the earth. As a kid I always knew the Indians had it right and I only hoped the rest of us did. Good job putting this out there for people to see and examine and learn about. I have only watched a small portion of the video since I have been busy with my mother here who has terrible headaches and needs constant care. It is a bitch but the least I can do considering all those years she was a nursemaid to me.

What a great dream though. At first it seems strange to consider these cities he describes being laid out with the university in the center, lakes and trees hydroponic gardens, and people living near the outskirts, a central computer controls climate. Machines do the dirty and boring repetitive work and humans are elevated to higher pursuits, creativity education and learning.
Between these artfully designed cities we let the rest of the world become lush with trees, jungle and wild life. Between the DOMES of cities the earth would just be itself.
That's attractive.

There could be "Stuck in the 50's" DOMES where life is retro-fitted to recreate the 50's with a modern twist, Wild West Domes where your world for all practical purposes is reminiscent of the rustic old west where people ride horses and can still hunt and kill their food from horseback.
I can picture this working. It is a managed future rather than willy nilly every which way but loose way countries and the Earth is managed now. It is everyone on the same page with a plan. A Critical Path.

I think this is actually the New World Order.
We just don't know it yet.
