Well that certainly was anti-climactic. Makes me want to go back to work...almost.
We could simply tell everyone to jump off a bridge during the evening news and start a new world with everyone that ignores the dictum and doesn't jump. These will be by elimination "the smart ones." Either that or they are the no good troublemakers who can't follow direction and got us in this mess in the first place.

True story follows-

Back when the V for Vendetta comic came out, I was a huge fan. Too huge to be considered normal, even for comic-lover-types. I had already noticed my addiction to Masks, and the comic was just a punch to the love-button in my highly impressionable mind, at a time where I really needed it to be impressed.

As years went on, I adopted a Mask, inspired directly by the comic. I also produced and released stickers and buttons containing the words "Ideas are Bullet proof" (yknow, the tagline for V for Vendetta).

It was around that time (1994) a punk band named "The PIST" came to me and asked me to make them an album cover and they said "you ever read V?" I cried "OH YES!" and they asked me to do their album cover. I jumped at the chance.



Recently a friend "invisible Gorilla" had located a vinyl copy of said album at a music store (it was sold world wide), and bought it for me. Man... remember vinyl?

But I digress...

Anyways, the Mask thing followed me as I wore one in public for many years. Yes, people laughed. Yes there were arrests and some violent attacks on my fragile body and mind. But over all, it was just accepted- "Mr Mask wears a Mask". When people asked why, I'd try to explain the idea of removing your face to FORCE people to actually hear you. When that failed I just said "Read V".

Before long, around 2001 me and a few other Masked men decided to organize and uphold a small group of faceless men and women. At this time there was no Fawkes masks, so you can only imagine the effect of 20 of us walking down a street or speaking/performing in public. The most we ever got was "you think you are Slipknot?"

Again, I have drifted further away from answering your question. I'm sorry. I'll try and answer it now.

After the V for Vendetta movie came out, anon started wearing these masks. The first time I saw them was at Newhaven CT protesting a cult of weird Tom Cruise worshipers. I was SO PISSED! It was one town over from mine, and we had already acquired over 500 members in our group, and since I was motivated and inspired by the comic, I just thought these guys ripped me off, and the movie.

So, I tried to organize a "meet up with their leader" I failed.

So I tried again...no luck.

Again and again. This was in 2006, recently after the movie was released.

After time, I got to the bottom of it and started to grasp the concept. I openly accepted that the works of Alan Moore are just powerful things, and that anyone wearing a Mask in the name of the V concept is family, or connected. I got to know some Fawkes masked folks, and realized they are individuals, not some gang or like minded participants in some grander organization.

I hated some of them...I loved some of them...I felt indifferent to some of them.

Alls I knew was, many of them "knew fully" how it feels to wear a Mask publicly and what it does to one's perceptions. While many others were just trying to be hip.

I recommend wearing a Mask, I highly believe it to be an almost spiritual experience. I can not hate Fawkes guys/girls/traps cus really, they just saw the same Alan Moore story presented in a more mainstream arena. The story is timeless and powerful. So, I love seeing the Masks around.

We (me and you) seem to disagree on one part though- You call them a cheap carnival. I think many of them are an expensive form of human. Almost a treasure.

Its just the garbaged minded ones, and the wagon riders looking to belong that bother me. Yes, I do shreek a little everytime I see someone under the age of 20 buying one of these Masks and not even knowing why. Yup, I do hate on those who adopt the look, but not the actions.

But over all, they have achieved much on both sides of the fence (the good/bad sides) and well, ideas ARE bulletproof.

I can't hate that.

I can only hug a Masked soul...for better or for worse. After all, the concept is very near and dear to me.

What I said was true. The title and content of the post implied it was a a real message from anon and even though most of us realized it was a joke after watching the vid a large portion of people didn't know as evidenced by a lot of comments here.

If you are familiar with the boards here you would know that if the majority of people here would be moved to hoax and banned for pulling that. Of course I don't think that would be the right recourse.. just the move to hoax. Anyway none of that matters I was just addressing that comment you made insinuating I didn't get that it was a joke.

For the record.. I never said you should be banned or anything. Another user replying to me indicated that and put words in my mouth. I just wanted it moved, not because I felt tricked (i knew it was a joke the second your mask began alternating with the Fawkes mask) I just was annoyed seeing all the people that were actually mislead and commenting about anonymous based on the vid.

That's the last I'll say on it as I don't care that much. It wasn't the funniest original content I've ever seen, but it wasn't a bad video so I starred you up for that.

You thought you had found the loophole to justify yourself but you are in fact wrong due to the specifics of your video. You gave your own faux info on what the plan was in the vid that is a hoax even if it was for the lulz.

Many of these videos were disguised as children's videos or family friendly videos with tags such as "Jonas brothers." YouTube has since removed all videos uploaded. The BBC contacted one of the uploaders who stated that it was a "4chan raid" organized due to the removal of music videos from YouTube. BBC News reported that one victim posted a comment saying: "I'm 12 years old and what is this?" which went on to become an internet meme.

Hmmmm...uploading videos to youtube to fool people? No way. And porn for children? Wow...how is that saving the world?
