~ This is a thread dedicated to the various documentaries made on the Assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963 - this thread listing them all in one place ~

Now, most people, if not everyone reading, knows the story of how the assassination of JFK in 1963 had actually come about, or at the very least they know "something" about some part of the case itself. This thread isn't a direct look at that, instead, I've decided to try and list the many, and the various different documentaries available for viewing on the case today. Reason being, they all go into different parts of the case in further detail than is probably possible in a simple thread, thus helping us to understand the case all-in-all, much better.

I'm a firm believer that we can learn more by watching than by simply reading...

So, and as I mentioned above, this is a thread documenting a great deal of the documentaries made on the various different angles of the JFK case, documenting them all in one place. By doing this I hope that this can turn into a great research tool for both myself, and for others also. Not forgetting bringing to light some lesser known material that may have been inadvertently missed by some.

For this, I hope others make the decision to add to this thread also. I ask for this as this thread really does have the potential to be such a fantastic source of information for all people, those who consider themselves keen researchers and those who may be new to the case, and It would be great to see It happen.

Well Known Documentaries

- The Men Who Killed Kennedy

The Men Who Killed Kennedy is a 9-part video documentary series about the John F. Kennedy assassination by Nigel Turner that began with two 50 minutes segments originally aired on 25 October 1988 in the United Kingdom, titled simply Part One and Part Two. The programmes were produced by Central Television for the ITV network, and were immediately followed by a studio discussion on the issues titled The Story Continues, chaired by broadcaster Peter Sissons. The United States corporation, Arts & Entertainment Company, purchased the rights to the original two segments. In 1989, the series was nominated for a Flaherty Documentary Award. The series was re-edited with additional material into three 50 minute programmes in 1991, which were again shown by ITV. A sixth episode appeared in 1995. The series typically aired in November every year, but also from time to time during the year as repeats. But in November, 2003, when three additional segments ("The Final Chapter") were added by the History Channel, the consequences were so immense that the entire series is no longer aired, though the History Channel still sells DVD copies of the first six documentaries.

- Four Days in November

"Four Days In November", a black-and-white film directed by Mel Stuart and skillfully narrated by actor Richard Basehart, remains my all-time favorite JFK-related program (whether it be a movie or a TV special). It's an expertly edited chronological documentary which guides the viewer through all four of those dark November days that shocked the nation and the world in late 1963.

"Four Days" received a significant amount of attention and was, in fact, nominated for an Academy Award (for "Best Documentary Feature" of 1964).

Via several re-creations of the actual Dallas events (using some of the people who were directly involved, such as Buell Wesley Frazier, Linnie Mae Randle, Johnny Brewer, and William Whaley), this David L. Wolper production gives the viewer a true feeling of being able to re-live the events of November 22-25, 1963, when America's 46-year-old leader was gunned down on Elm Street in Dallas, Texas.

"Four Days" was made only a matter of months after the assassination, which helped in making the re-creations all the more effective, since the people involved, the locations, the landmarks, and even the automobiles had not changed much at all since the tragedy occurred. I truly had the sense of being there BEFORE it happened because of the very good re-created scenes.

Thank you. I have a feeling that this is going to be my most favorite thread since I have been on ATS. I have been interested in the JFK assassination for almost 20 years. I have a feeling that we are never going to know the real truth, but it is a mystery that will not just go away.

Hey there.

I have been interested in the JFK assassination for almost 20 years.

Well, admittedly, I've not even been around long enough to be interested in this case for 20 years (lol), instead over the past year or so, It's become something of a fascination of mine. Particularly due to the sheer blatancy of a conspiracy being present here.
