Just throwing this out there, could it be possible that Russia could be using their HAARP like devise in Sura to do these kinds of things that people question if it could be HAARP? Does anyone know how powerful it is?

It nowhere says "EXPLOSION" anywhere. There are a lot of effects from a nuclear detonation besides the explosion part of it and I think that is what they were saying.

Begich found eleven other APTI Patents. This cluster of patents underlay the HAARP weapon system.

You will, on occasion, see Begich list the patents by number. This particular one is patent 4,873,928 by Frank Lowther for APTI. Begich states directly that it is one of the patents that "underlies the HAARP 'weapon' system".

PFFT.

Of the APTI patents he lists, about 10% can be stretched to maybe being somehow applicable. The other 90% are pure crap, but no-one bothers to call him on them. Let's look at this one:

The present invention provides a method for producing an explosion which yields shock energies equivalent to nuclear explosions but one which generates no radioactive fallout. Basically, the present invention utilizes a commonly available combustible gas, e.g. natural gas, methane, etc., mixed with a commonly-available oxidizer gas, e.g. oxygen, air, etc., as the explosive mixture for a large scale explosion. Methane, e.g. natural gas, is readily available in large quantities which can quickly and easily be transported to a remote test site by a common pipeline or the like.

More specifically, the present invention provides a method for producing an explosion by filling a large, expendible structure, e.g. an inflatable envelope, at a test site with an explosive mixture of methane and oxygen and then detonating said mixture. To provide a relatively safe operating environment during the filling operation, the envelope is first partially filled with an initial filling mixture comprised of methane and oxygen wherein the concentration of methane is too rich for the mixture to either burn or explode. After the initial filling mixture is in place, the mixture is "armed" or "topped-off" with additional oxidizer gas, e.g. oxygen, either in gas or liquid form, to change the relative concentration of methane and oxygen to one which will readily explode when detonated.

Yeah, buddy. That's it - the secret of HAARP - a balloon filled with natural gas and oxygen. To this day, Begich will still claim that this eeeevil APTI HAARP weapon patent is one of the seeeeeecrets of HAARP. Go look for yourself - it's pretty straightforward.

Not that there aren't HAARP patents in a sense, that is, patents which list a method studied at HAARP which can be applied elsewhere. But that list of Begich's isn't even partially vetted. He's assuming you'll be too lazy or credulous to look for yourself.

The debate is not about the words explosion or detonation.

It says that HAARP has capability that simulates the FUNCTION of a nuclear detonation. It doesn´t directly say it can cause a nuclear explosion/detonation.

And to be precise, an explosion is not exactly the same as a detonation.

An explosion can be a detonation or a deflagration.

Explosions are either detonations or deflagrations: the difference depends on whether the reaction front propagates above or below the speed of sound in the unreacted gases. In a detonation, the reaction front moves at a speed greater than the speed of sound, driving the shock front immediately preceding it. Both fronts move at the same speed. In a deflagration, the reaction front moves at a speed less than the speed of sound, while the pressure front moves away from the reaction front at the speed of sound.

A nuclear blast is technically not even an explosion.

I think it was China induced.
It is my understanding that
both Russia and China have
HAARP installations. And IMO,
the attack on Japan was not meant
entirely for Japan but as a residual
effect on the Fed propping up the
US Dollar and Japanese Nikkei
propping up Wall Street.

At Arecibo the same two people are the "parents" of the National Atmospheric and Ionosphere Center (NAIC) 3. This is used as an ionospheric heater, a tool that manipulates the ionosphere, and to cover it up is called the Arecibo radar.
Arecibo ionospheric heater is recorded in the annals of science from 1974.4 to alleged civilian purposes, however, the Defense Department included in its request Arecibo Environmental Impact Statement, filed October 18, 1993, as part of Project HAARP.5 The document that follows is part of the Environmental Impact Statement.
Its aim is to use the Arecibo radar to carry out the project Sleight of Hand. Sleight of Hand is a project of the Department of Defense budget since 2006 that it intends to "cleanse" the trapped radiation ionosphere Argus6 product. High means HAND

The goal is to do experiments to solve the problem and save the communications and military satellites that are confronted with nuclear energy trapped in the radiation belts. This also builds a pipeline.
In Puerto Rico have deployed two systems. One is the ultra high frequency system in Arecibo9 and the other is an aerial training at Fort Allen, mid-frequency antennas, which have the ability to create "control of reflection coefficient" 10 mentioned by the enlightened scientific document HAARP . This is the second thread linking to information about Puerto Rico, I don't get it.

The UN document does NOT claim HAARP can cause "heavy nuclear type explosion".

Locally heating the ionosphere can cause disruption to certain types of radio transmissions, which has the same EFFECT on radio communications as exploding a nuclear weapon in the upper atmosphere, (which is now banned by international treaty).

How can you read that document and come away with such a distortion of what it actually says.

This is James, here. Reporting from Utah. Very strange weather, such as snowing in the late Spring, and have gotten at least 1 foot of powder. Along with that, reports of flooding in certain areas. No known earthquakes, or landslides have been reported, yet. The cloud coverage on 4/4/11 8:50 MST is 100%, the clouds are shaped weird.

You, along with all the others that are saying that this statement says "nothing about an explosion" are flawed in your logic. "Same function" means it's the same. It does not say "well, it's pretty similar to a heavy type nuclear device." I am not saying the statement is correct, but, it is not for anyone that is giving it credibility to decide which parts of a "detonation of a heavy type nuclear device" they like. If you're going to decide that it may simply mean the EMP aspect of a nuclear device, that opens the door for someone else to pick which part they want it to mean.

Maybe ATSuser48 posts "You guys are crazy, it clearly states that it performs the same function as a heavy type nuclear device! That means KABLOOEY!!! Luckily, no radiation, though."

Anyone with reading comprehension skills would tell you that the quoted statement implies that HAARP is capable of creating a nuclear-type explosion. Whether it's true or not, that is unfortunately what it says.

The reason why a reference to Nick Begich is so damning is because he is the original source for every HAARP conspiracy theory. The HAARP project began in 1990 and by 1993 the first stages of the facility were completed. Now at this point HAARP was HAARP in name only. It had 18 antennae and was only capable of putting out 360 kW of energy. Despite this very primitive facility Begich published his book Angels Don't Play This HAARP in 1995. This is the first most people heard of HAARP and Begich was already claiming it could create earthquakes, control the weather, and a number of other things. To support this he provided a large number of patents that he claims are related to HAARP. In truth however none of these patents were related to HAARP and most of them couldn't even be stretched to apply to HAARP. However, Begich's claims took root in the minds of conspiracy theorists which is why the same claims are made to this day.

Now one must ask how Begich's claims could make such an impact when they are so spurious. Nick is the son of the late Nick Begich Sr. who was a Representative from Alaska from 1971 to 1972 when he presumably died in a plane crash. Not only was Nick's father a Representative, but his brother is currently a Senator from Alaska. So, right off the bat Begich's background seems to be one of somebody who is well connected and possibly privy to secret information. Not only does Begich come from a good family he also claims the title of doctor. Once again sounds like a reliable source. However, when one looks into Begich's claim of being a doctor things get a little murky. Begich himself claims that he received his degree from The Open International University for Complementary Medicine. Unfortunately, this is not an actual university, it is a diploma mill. For $400 you too could have the title of Doctor of Medicine (Medicina Alternitiva.)

Using his title and family name Begich has been able to trick a number of smart people into believing his claims. In 1998, using only information from Begich, the EU convened a meeting specifically to discuss the dangers of HAARP. The fact remains however that any patent waved around claiming it discusses HAARP originates from Begich. In truth, all of these patents discuss things that are entirely different from HAARP. It is these patents that are referenced in this paper. Due to Begich's family name and false title many have bought into his claims, but at the end of the day he is simply a snake oil salesman, except he is much more dangerous because he is connected.
